Nuance
Working for this company is a huge rip off. I was with them for 2 years and resigned recently in the middle of the pay period. I do not think they are going to pay me the hours they owe me but if the T4A does not agree come tax time they are in for an audit by the FEDs. The work is horrible, QA and the favorites (cherry pickers) take all the best documents and leaves the rest of the hard to understand ones to regular MT. Unless you are a favorite stay away from this company. The pay is poor. I was never at a loss when I left them only because I have another company I work for outside the home. Some of the cons is isolation being stuck at home and not going out and being a slave to the computer. I have been on the same account at the same time on 2 different computers just to test ES and for the ones getting up 300 minutes a day which I think is impossible they are getting family members to work for them in the same household, which is a HIPPA breach, and they should correct the ES to make it so one can only be logged into an account only once not twice. The one thing I do not like about ES is after one uploads a dictation, they put it back into the pool to give your work to someone else to edit and take the credit for this is one of the dirty tricks I have seen go on in ES way too many times so be weary of this.

Accentus
I have been with Accentus for a month and a half. It took a month to get set up. It took another week to get training. I was assigned to a certain hospital. I started the gating period. I typed for them for three days and was then told that I was not a good enough typist (I have an accuracy rate of 95 - 100%) and because I typed a note and forgot to mark it as a gating report I was terminated from the hospital. I was "given one final chance" from the TL and am supposed to be assigned to another hospital and its been a week now and I am still waiting. What kind of high horse are these people on? Seriously I have been a typist for the past 20 years working in a hospital and working for one doctor for 15 years. I was always told that I was an excellent typist by all I have typed for. They completely wear down your self worth. This company is a joke. The TLs are rude and ignorant ( I have dealt with four so far). I would not recommend this company to anyone.

Accentus - Very tough to be successful as a newbie
I am hoping recent graduates of medical transcription will do their research. Please take notice of the comments by experienced medical transcriptionists. I am a recent graduate of Canscribe. I applied to Accentus and was given a job. I too appreciated that they were willing to hire a newbie fresh out of school. However, there is a reason most transcription companies require 2 years experience as it is very difficult to obtain the 98% accuracy rate that is expected by Accentus. I have been working as an independent contractor for just under 1 month. I just received an email stating that if I do not consistently achieve the 98% accuracy rate I will be let go. Just so you know, you are docked a couple percent for incorrect comma usage, apostrophe usage, past vs. present tense etc. It is extremely difficult to achieve 98% and above particularly when you are new to an account as well the industry in general. I am not saying Accentus is a bad company. My team leads have been great. It is simply a very difficult model to be successful at if you are new. I am providing my insight, as I would like others to understand the issues and wish I had done more research going in. The stress to achieve what is expected can really take a toll on confidence. I have spent $$, numerous hours learning terminology, and feel there is no way I can be successful in such a short period of time. I am lucky in that I am not the primary breadwinner in my home so do not need to worry about paying the bills. It is extremely difficult to make any money at all when you are first learning the ins and outs of transcription so be prepared for that as well. Just my 2 bits as I feel the need to educate other newbies so they understand what sort of barriers they face and to be realistic about how successful they can be. Not sure how you gain experience in the industry....... Still trying to figure that one out as it seems jobs in the hospitals are consistently being outsourced. Hopefully there are other transcription companies out there that are more realistic and willing to invest time and training into newbies. If not, sadly, the model is broken.

I just resigned from Accentus after 3 years
As soon as I started applying for jobs as an MT fresh out from my CanScribe course, I found that most companies hiring were looking for transcriptionists with at least 2 years experience or more, which was frustrating as a newbee. I have to say that I appreciated Accentus hiring me on as a "fresh out of school" transcriptionist, and I also have to say that with the 3 years of working for Accentus that if you get a great team lead and an account that is well set up and organized, which I had right off the start, then you can have a very positive experience with Accentus.
With that being said, I have had to resign from Accentus, just as of January 19, 2014, and for pretty much all the reasons that I have read on this forum. The account that I was on for almost 3 years was well set up, and my team lead was exceptional. However, from the hiring stage to the set up stage, it was very prolonged and not without issues with getting my name correct and IT setting me up for the account I was on. Once that was over and I was up and running, I will say that there were times of shutdown and IT issues with software not working, etc., but again the team lead I had was amazing, and she did her job to make things right. Unfortunately, Accentus lost this account, and during this time of weaning us off the account, many demands were being made for us to pick up production and make them look good on the way out. Our 200 minimum was upped to 250, and although bonuses were being put in place for more than 250 minutes of production, I began getting taped phone messages at home from the CEO asking us to work harder, produce more, and I felt very pressured, but I did the best I could to keep up with the jonses. Near the end of this account's contract, we were told that those of us who were making our 250 minimum on a regular basis would be the ones who got placed on another account right away, and those of us who were not making the minimum required regularly would not get placed first up and may not even get another account at all.
The account I was on ended in early October, and I was not getting my minimum requirements prior to that point because the work was not there, as was the issue of the server going down on us, or we were being told to get off the system because the rest of the work was for the inhouse staff. Anyway, I was given a new account, but this led to my resignation.
I was told I was being placed on one account, then this turned into a dual account. IT tried to get me set up with the software needed, credentials etc, but right from the get go, it was nothing but mass confusion, poor communication between managers, team leads and IT. Regardless to say, I was not trained, gated, and working until mid November, and I only was working on the one account, as there were still issues with setting me up on the other account. I was getting numerous emails from the manager asking me when I could start working on the second account because she was under pressure from the client, like that was my problem. Anyway, come nearing the holidays, I had been patient up till that point, but could not take any more. I was just getting used to the one account I was on, and they informed us that they were changing the platform for this account, and we would be now training for that. I pretty much knew that this meant nothing but more setbacks for me on production because the transition so far had been a mess, and now I had to go through that all over again.
There is a whole other story when it comes to my resignation and the conversation I had with my manager because I had emailed my old team lead about the terrible experience I had with my transition to the new accounts, which got forwarded to higher ups, and this manager, instead of emailing me where it would be documented, called me at home and told me that my email had made it look like she was not doing her job, and she was not happy about that. She then said things to me to make me feel as though I was a second rate transcriptionist, and tried to make it look like I did something wrong. Anyway, not a positive experience, and the new company who hired me is extremely happy that I am testing in the high 90s, and hired me up right away. I have not heard from HR, nor did I get paid on my last payday, and they pushed it ahead by a week instead. I am very disappointed with the way I was treated by Accentus, and I am just glad to know that I am not the only one out there who has experienced such poor treatment, especially after 3 years.

Mistreatment of employees
Well, 'Just Get To Work, ' if you're sick of all the whining going on, why on earth do you keep logging in to this site. Surely, for someone who is an MT who works hard, I would think you would have better things to do than read the Accentus Complaints Board. So, 'Just Get To Work, ' butt the hell out of this site and (you all know what is coming next) 'JUST GET TO WORK.' As someone has already mentioned, this is a complaints board. People log in to complain. Nobody forces nitwits like you to log in and read the complaints. So, Get Back to Work!' Oh, and don't forget to let us all know how many thousands of dollars per week you are making. That's what holier than thou delusionals like you usually do! I'm surprised you haven't banked enough to retire by now!

Mistreatment of employees
Your insults are unnecessary, rude and callous. In case you forgot, THIS IS A COMPLAINTS BOARD. The MTs are on here specifically to complain. Not really sure why you are on here. It seems to complain about the complainers? Or maybe to brag how perfect you think you are. I really doubt if anyone else is interested in your opinion or would agree with you that "Accentus is not that bad of a company." This is a complaints board specifically for Accentus complaints and mistreatment of employees.

Mistreatment of employees
To the MT making $1500/week - I have to agree that some people can do this. I can average $30-40/hour on an easy account with plenty of work. However, if I have a difficult account or an account that runs out of work, it is very difficulty to make $30-40/hour, and yes, sometimes it seems like I only average about $10/hour. To all the MTs complaining on here, you really should stop and think about why you feel you are not making that much money. Do you sit diligently at the computer working non-stop? How often do you get up to take care of your household chores? How many personal phone calls do you have a day? For those of you with small children, how many times do you stop typing because someone is saying "Mommy"? I bring these questions up because not too long ago I had to answer all of these questions myself and I realized that I really wasn't spending as much time typing as I thought!!! To make money as an out-home MT, you MUST be self-disciplined!!! You must sit and type when there is work. When an account is slow, you just have to figure out when the dictation is being loaded and adjust your schedule accordingly. This is not an 8 to 5 profession. You might have to work a couple of hours in the morning, a couple in the afternoon and get the rest done at night. If you want a straight 8 hour/day job, this is NOT the profession for you! Accentus is not that bad of a company...certainly not any worse than the rest. You people just need to quit whining and get transcribing or else just get out of the business all together!!!
And by the way...I am not in any way affiliated with Accentus, before all of you start accusing me of that!! I am just an MT trying to make a living for my family and wish that you whiners who aren't cut out for this work just move on so the rest of us can make the money we need!!!
