CindyLooHoo...yes, hard drives do "just crash". Especially those sold with Acer machines. They stop spinning and it has nothing to do with a virus. You can use all the boot disks you want but if it's not spinning ...it's not working. There are also other mechanical issues that can happen with a hard disk. And although rare...Hard drives can also have a "dump" and lose all data.
To say hard drives do not just crash is absolutely not true.

My hard drive died after 5 months on my Acer AX1420-G U5832. They sent me one, although they charged my credit card until they got the old one back...even though they said they would only charge it after 15 days of not receiving the broken one. My biggest problem with them is Windows failed Validation. They say it's only a trial version of Windows even though it does not say so on the box or documentation. Microsoft Office says it's a starter...but not Win 7. Even though I was still under warranty Acer would not make good. My machine also has overheating issues. I see Acer overheating posts throughout the net. Acer has tried to put this on Walmart because they refuse to accept any responsibility. Walmart has absolutely nothing to do with Acer other then selling them. And according to Walmart Corporate...this may soon end. Also...Microsoft agrees that if you buy a computer that "includes Windows" you should get your disk. This is the way it always was, but anymore you are told to make your own restore disks. This is misleading and false advertising and should be a class action suit. Just bring Microsoft into court and see what they have to say about it.
