Contract termination

We sold our house and had a contract with ADT I was told when we signed up it was for 2 years. Come to find out they had lied to me and the written contract I got later in mail was for 3 years. Now they want 415.49 for early termination. I called Defenders ADT and told them I sold house and they said I still owe it. I was going to use them again at our next house we are moving into but after realizing how deceitful they were I will never use their services again. I will never sign on a little tablet that you can't read the print on again from any technicians. Also will use a voice recorder.

ADT/DEFENDERS IS SCAM

First, the relationship with ADT Security started with intentional fraudulent information.
When the installer came to my house, I wasn’t ready to install the system, but he wanted me to sign the contract no matter what, and convinced me by providing me with the falls information about two month free trial with the right to cancel without the penalty. However, I couldn’t try the system, because it hasn’t been working the very next day. When I call to cancel after one month, I was advised that if I canceling I have to pay penalty of 75% out of the amount of the contract.
Second, the system had never been working from the moment it was installed.
Technician, who came to check the system, told me that system was installed incorrectly, that’s why it never worked, and even more the sensors on my windows are not compatible with my windows. He advised me to call and cancel the services with ADT.
I send a request to cancel, but nothing happened, I was told the same thing as before, I have to pay penalty in order to cancel the contract.
I requested another technician to come over and check and he told me the same thing, the system is not working and sensors are not compatible with my windows.
Even, after three service calls, nothing had happened. System does not work from the moment of installation 06/30/2016 till today 11/21/2016, and cancelation of the contract never took a place.

Locking me in for 5 year contract and charging $1000.00 early cancellation fee.

Agreed to a 5 year contract with A.D.T. by phone. Never received contract by email. Technician came to change out battery and check equipment. A few days after he left my alarm keypad started beeping. When alarm was on the pad would be even more. To me that tells me we had no service. Called to cancel and they tell me I only had 3 days to cancel the contract. Asked them again to send me a copy of the contract since I never received one when we initially signed up. I was unhappy with their service and want to cancel except they want me to charge me $1000.00 to get out of the contract. Please help! This company is taking advantage of consumers!!!

Defenders Security LIed

Hi - I was sold a $104.94 system December 2015, and offered a visa card for $100 to offset that charge, which I never received -- they today, 11/29/2016, said they are a different company, (however ADT indicates they are Defender), and they cannot reissue a visa card, because it is only good for 30 days, and a redemption code is sent in an email, which I never received. This is my first complaint.

My second complaint is Defenders sold me the package, for a multi-year contract service. I discussed with them that December, 2015 the house would be unoccupied, while it was for sale, and i wanted to have the system to protect the property from burglary - and I would need it a few months or maybe longer, while for sale. They told me I could transfer it to my new address in Texas after the house sold, or if the new owner wanted to take over the contract they could.

We found a buyer, and they agreed to take over the contract, and pay the remainder. ADT didn't agree. They said the new owner would have to take out a new 3 year contract!! I finally got them to agree that it could be billed to them, but leave the contract in my name, but the new buyer would not agree in time, so I asked to cancel then, or transfer to Texas - -then again, they said it has to be a new 3 year contract. The termination would only be the remaining value of the contract well over $1000. I am going to complain to the BBB, as well, but thought I ought to add this here. So aggravating, and I am not sure what to do now to resolve it.

SCAM OF SERVICE CHARGE

I have the equipment for less then a year and the sim card seen to be not picking up signal (verify by the ADT service technician); he mentioned this sim card not support to be use here since the signal is too weak. Anyhow, I called and try to get someone from ADT to fix the problem. ADT want to charge me service fee and I have to join their service contract afterward. It is ridiculous that I have to join the service contract or pay for the service fee for replace their sim card. After all these discussion for hour, they agree to come out and fix the problem with no charge. I even asked the technician when he arrived to ensure this service is FREE and no charge for today repair and service. He said yes, there is no charge for these today. After several days later, I received the bill for $100 fee that ADT is charging me. I called the ADT office, the staff said they never disclosed the FREE service fee on the visit. I spoke to the supervise, she mentioned she have to review the record messages and get back to me after 48 hours. I never received her call her.

What a scam from ADT by saying one thing and charge the consumer afterward.

Poor servicemen and poor equipment poor customer service

We have had services for over 3 years. We have had multiple system failures where we can't even arm our system and we are still paying for premium monitoring services plus and it takes weeks to get ADT servicemen out to look at system, meanwhile unarmed. We don't feel safe, we have 3 small children. My husband is tech savvy and he understands the system enough to triage problems so that he helps trouble shoot what may need to be looked at or ordered before they come. We have had personal out 4 times for the same problems (needing new sensors) and the servicemen conveniently forget every time!!!! We are also USAA (Army Vetran) member customers so that waves routine maintenance fees......."seeing an unfortunate trend?" Why should we be less important if we still have a premium monthly service monitoring fee plus annual contract fee!?! They act like they don't care and don't appear to know their equipment enough nor their own system to trouble shoot fixing it. It's like they dink around with it using a corncob just enough to get it going for a day and guess what....multiple sensors malfunctioning and system faults to render it unable to arm the alarm!!!!!
What happened to this company? ADT was supposed to be one of the elite companies. Another Very unhappy customer.

ADT termination FEE

I am filing an official complaint about the brutal 3 year advance payment termination fee tied to any business owner who starts what he/she thought was going to be a successful business and then ends up going out of business due to many unforseen circumstances along the way. Anyway, ADT claims we owe thousands to cover their 3 year contract and we cannot pay this. They are relentless, steer clear of them at all costs. Now collections is calling us constantly harassing us for payment. They are terrible. Worst business ever.

ADT Unfair Billing Practices

My father-in-law just told me that he was charged by ADT for 18 months of service before he was finally told by ADT that it wasn't monitoring his system because he had switched his phone service from AT&T to Cox 18 months earlier. When ADT finally disclosed this fact, my father-in-law cancelled the service and ADT had the balls to charge him a termination fee. After fighting with customer service ADT finally offered to refund three months worth of service payments, but that is not nearly enough to make him whole. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Equipment is Poor

Since we had our system installed in April of 2015, we have had major issues with the equipment. Wait time for customer service is in excess of 25 minutes.
We have a 3 year contract and we can't wait to get rid of ADT.

Landlord has no rights

Recently a tenant going through an eviction process installed an ADT system on my property. Clearly stating in lease that written permission would need to be obtained However without confirming residence ADT installed an alarm system to my property. Dispite written proof, certified letters ADT is unwilling to work with me on the situation. I'm fed up. Looking for anyone this has happened to. Since I now have to go legal I would like to file a complaint and it lawsuit among what I have to do with the tenant due to the fact they did not go through a verification process and now they are costing me time and income. Until I can get this corrected

ADT is a scam!!!

Adt is very deceiving to their customers. My husband,and I were with adt for 3 yrs. They over charged us for equipment we didn't have, response time is very bad, cancelation fee is outrageous and to make things worse they never informed us that a permit was required to be monitored by our PD. When we first signed up our city didn't require a permit but as I was told adt was suppose to notify us just as our new company did that a permit was needed. Basically we threw away thousands of dollars for nothing because without the permit the police won't come out to your home. All adt care about is making money and trying to sell these upgrades and over charge you. We will be filling a suit against adt. PLEASE DON'T TRUST ADT!!!!!

continued to bill after cancellation

I started an adt trial security and cancelled it after only a couple of months because ADT was never working, they charged us 200.00 to come out and supposedly fix it and said it was just batteries, right after that someone kicked our door in while we were not home we live way out in the country.. and adt never worked, we had told them it wasn't working,
I called the rep to cancel it and he gave me an email to cancel and then told me just to send my cancellation request to adt at another email address, with the account number which I did, ADT continued to take money out of my account even tho I had emailed them with my cancellation request several times with the account number that the house was being sold.. etc.. now a year later they are saying even tho I did what was requested I have to fax them a letter to stop the service and they will continue to bill me as they want a 3o day notice..

very very bad customer service, bad system that never worked.. poor service calls that they charge you a lot for and nothing is done..

DO NOT GET AN ADT SYSTEM.. !!!!

SECURITY SYSTEM

Since the 26th of February 2015 logged an a-mail informing ADT with regards to my alaram system.
I am a Tendant and BOUGHT and PAID a RECEIVER with 2 REMOTE PANIC BUTTONS.
Eventually a Sales Consultant opened my NEW ACC and assisted to change myPROFILE.
Eventually a Techinician by the name of Clancy Nkanyani was at the OLD premises to remove the RECEIVED.
Now all of the sudden the RECEIVER does not work as the new home has a different system to this.
My question was for the TECNHICIAN if ADT is going to GIVE CREDIT as it still stays there PROPERTY.
Because WHAT must I do with it?????
Now the TECHNICIAN could not even answer me.............and just left sight
I have phoned the ADT 086 12 12 400 number and after a phone call of 14 minutes could not even get through to the
Technical Departments SuperVisor: Vincent Ngkyema and not 1 of the so-called Managers is AVAILABLE.

MISS HANDLING OF FUNDS

A tech came to our home in september and did some work. we paid him a $50 check. to date in November, the check has not been found nor applied to my account. this is the second time this happened with adt and they never have a resolve and keep billing me. the corporate office was to look for the check and still no word. keep getting the run a round.

Complainers need to file a class action lawsuit on their practices.

Absoute Security of America And ADT

I signed up with ADT and evidently their "authorized dealer" who is not even located in Texas, but Virginia. I sold my home and had 2 years left on my contract, not only did they raise my rates while under contract, but they would not let me take the system to my new house unless I signed a NEW 3 year contract. Now they are harassing me for the rest of the payment and have no regard for their misleading and deceptive practices. I thought I was dealing with ADT! Now they want to send me to a collecitons agency, Stay away from these cheats!

ADT-

I am a home owner and have had ADT for over two years. I recently discovered that I have significant health problems and will need to move in with my daughter. I am 58 years old, on a fixed income and have always paid my bill on time. I called ADT to cancel service and was told I WOULD NEED TO BUY OUT MY CONTRACT!!! I do not have the funds for this kind of expenditure. NO other company that I have CONTRACTS with have forced me to pay or even asked me to pay. They verify the address to where I am moving and WAIVE THE FEE. This includes, AT& T, Reliant, Cable, Gas Co. and Phone. NONE of these enforced the contract--with the exception of ADT. I called to question why and was told by the first person (JULIE) that the fee would be waived and not to worry, I called again to verify AND WAS TOLD BY BRETT--NO, YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR THE 11 MOS. LEFT ON YOUR CONTRACT. I explained the situation, but he informed me "IT DOES NOT MATTER--WE COLLECT EVERYTHING ON CONTRACTS. I told him I did not choose to move, but had no choice--AGAIN, HE SAID THAT WAS NO EXCUSE, I WOULD NEEDTO PAY. I have never done business with a more cold, calculating company in my life. I even sent my records to verify my condition, but never heard back. THESE PEOPLE ARE AWFUL--to want to squeeze every nickel out of someone who had no choice is beyond TACKY and HATEFUL. I will file with the BBB and see if I can settle as they THREATEN TO REPORT TO CREDIT AGENCY. DO NOT CHOOSE ADT WHEN SHOPPING FOR ALARM SYSTEM.

ADT

Hello Corey, I will join your lawsuit undoubtably! My home was broken into and the alarm went off. Entry was gained via a window so the individual was unaware of the motion detector. When ADT called the Police because there was no answer at the home they called my cell phone to report the break-in to me. I inform them that I was in the store check-out lane and would be leaving immediately. On the way home ADT called Me back to inform Me that all was well and that they had called off the police. I went BALLISTIC!! I asked "WHO GAVE YOU THE AUTHORITY TO CALL OFF THE POLICE?!" They told Me they called the house again and my "daughter"answered and told them it was "ok" and asked them to turn off the alarm. I said "YOU STUPID ¥¥¥¥¥¥ DON'T YOU THINK IF THAT WAS MY DAUGHTER SHE WOULD KNOW THE ¥¥¥¥ CODE?! DID YOU ASK FOR THE PASS WORD?!" The said no. I snapped again, almost having an accident! I informed them, as calmly as I could before I stroked out, "When I get home it the police aren't there I will come to where ever you are AND BEAT THE LIVING HELL OUT OF YOU JUST FOR BEING SO ¥¥¥¥¥¥¥ STUPID!!" Then I hung up and commenced my drive home. I was so pissed at her inability to do such an intense job were individuals lives and livelyhood were at stake that all I could see was RED!! By the time I got home the police were pulling up at the same time as I. I started towards my home and they told Me to wait until they checked it out. It turned out that it was My Foster Daughter that cut My screen to My Family Room and went in. She did not know about to motion detector and still didn't. She thought it was on the window. All-All ADT dropped the ball big time because she stole My diamond ring and the Agency would not replace it. They said thats why they make sure we ave homeowners insurance and we know the children come with problems. Needless to say, she left the same day.

Harrassment

Endlessly I receive harrassing calls from ADT, since purchasing my home a year ago. They go in phases where they will call me everyday sometimes twice a day.

They have even visited my home twice to harrass me to purchase their security system.

How do I stop them from continuing to harrass me.
