My daughter took a flight to Nicaragua to do volunteer work from NY with a stop in Miami on the way. From LGA airport, the flight was delayed over 2 hours, as they could not find a gate to put the plane. Without giving any information as to why, they changed the gate 3 times, to different ends of the terminal, making the passengers walk over the entire terminal. Again, no information. Then they sat after pulling from the gate for over 40 minutes. She then missed her connection in Miami. My wife could not reach the airlines, as the hold was too long. She called Chase, where we booked the ticket. They contacted AA and was informed by the Airline representative that our daughter would be getting a hotel voucher, dinner voucher and cab voucher once she got to Nicaragua, for all of her troubles, missing the connection to Nicaragua.
When she arrived in Miami, she was treated rudely by the gate agents, who wanted to offer no help. They informed her to check in Nicaragua. When she arrived there, there were NO American Airline representatives. They all left.
As the volunteer job was in the remote areas, she stayed in the hotel at the airport, and had to pay for the hotel, transport. No dinner was available near by the hotel so traveling alone as a single woman she stayed in the hotel.
I contacted AA multiple times, and got the same response. 7500 miles, and no voucher will be provided. Sorry for the rudeness and the travel delays, but no supervisors are available, nothing else but sorry. No wonder they go bankrupt every few years as they do not care about passengers, treat us like dirt and I have heard they treat employees the same way. Hopefully, they get the treatment they have been giving for years and go bankrupt, and stay bankrupt. Fly other airlines, much less trouble. I am Platinum with another airline, unfortunately they did not fly this route. Not be booking on AA again.

I was trying to get on an earlier flight and arrived 20 minutes prior to departure at the gate. The customer service agents (Sharon k and Joseph- gate d21)had to be the two most incompetent, rude agents I have ever encountered. They asked me if I was a premium member, I told them no and then they said they couldn't help me. There were still about 20 people left to board and they still turned me down.

This happened 2-1-16.

I fly weekly and this experience will definitely cause me to look elsewhere and make American my last resort for airlines.

Customer service is lost.

On April 1st my son and I traveled from LA to Munich for a skiing trip. Our baggage was lost and we did not receive it for 3 days. In order to ski we had to rent equipment. We also had to buy toiletries. The total out of pocket cost was $614. I wrote and documented our losses. I have had no response from the baggage department and no compensation.

Airlines don't offer insurance like that, but your credit card that you used to do the booking usually does.
