I purchased this horrible Americast kitchen sink and after a year started to loose its finish. Today I’m stuck with a.very expensive repair due to granite countertop cut to this specific shape….sink is no longer manufactured….now I know why this piece of garbage was taken off the market….does anyone know about a class action lawsuit that we can join? The company should pay for our repairs.

I purchased a sink when re-doing our kitchen in 2008. Love the sink. Love the look. Just about a year or less after purchase, the sink started to chip and rust. I even used a mat right from the start, to no avail. Now, the sink is a total eyesore. It has to be replaced. There is no way a ten year old sink should look like this. In fact, my sink looks like the pictures of the customers' complaints.

I am not going to run through the whole thing, as all of the complaints shown here regarding the American Standard Americast kitchen sink are exactly the same as my complaint. I absolutely love the configuration of the sink (Silhouette - double bowl offset) and was thrilled with it when I purchased it for a home we built in 1998. Seven years later, we built another home and we got the exact same sink again because we loved it so much. It seems that we moved out of our first home just before the sink would have started having the coating beginning to wear off, scratches, etc. (all of the complaints listed in other reviews here). After being in our 2nd new home for about 8 years, the coating on the sink began to wear away, right down to the metal (cast iron?) base. Now, 13 years after building our home, the sink looks hideous! It was supposed to have a "lifetime warranty" (HA!). It's just my husband and myself, and I have never used any abrasive cleaners. I'm so upset because this sink has been long discontinued (I can see why), and it's been almost impossible to find the same configuration that I loved about this sink. So, I agree with all the other reviewers - STAY AWAY from American Standard sinks!!!

We remodeled in 2005 and bought an American Standard 4155 large sculptured edge kitchen sink which They provide no replacements and my granite counter's sink hole that is too large for any other sink.
The right sink bowl badly stained and became rough even though we had a plast mat in the bottom and NEVER used abrasive cleaners.
What the ### American Standard??? You will cost me $$$$ thousands to replace your piece of shit sink.

Step up American Standard and give us replacement sinks that fit.!!!

I was in love with this sink, for about 7 months, then the shine was gone in a few places, but I was o.k., then it started chipping, scrapes followed by stains that are permanent. I notified the store, they said nothing they could do, I believed in the product so after 6 months through out the receipt. I called the company, no one ever got back to me to offer anything =( . I paid good money for the sink and to have it installed. It just got worse very fast, scratches, huge chips. It is only my husband and I, so no one miss treated it, just normal wear destroyed it. I followed the cleaning directions. I was tempted to buy another, until I read that they also crack and flood under your cabinet. I love the depth, the shape. It is such an eye sore, so embarrassed to have people in my kitchen, I only put 3 inches of water in, and nothing heavy. Sad, because it WAS the prettiest sink I had ever had.So now I am looking for another sink like it, but can't find anything I liked as much as this one, but just about any would be better, American Standard let me down. I would not have complained on here had American Standard got back in touch. My counter top, from 1994 is in perfect condition, even with years later changing sinks, faucet to go with the new sink like new, the sink is a disgrace. I am so upset, but have been to a few years. My Americast sink has been chipped for a number of years. Less than a year after getting it looked badly, however I haven’t wanted to spend the money to get another sink. It’s discolored, and I’ve tried everything to make I look better. I’m very pleased to read all these reviews because I see that it wasn’t something I did wrong.

I have purchased over 20 Chandler Americast kitchen sinks over the past few years and sink is a piece of junk. They will not come clean, there are so badly stained in spite of customers using the recommended products. As a contractor, this is unacceptable. Ive replaced 11 of the sinks at my expense....I'll never buy another sink from American Standard again, Again AGAIN ...never , never, never.

Home Depot was no help....Lowe's was of no help. And American standard could give a rats ASS. Thanks A.S.

We purchased a sink from Home Depot and took it to the granite company that cut e granite to fit specifically to this sink that we were under the impression would last for years and years. We were very much scammed. The sink started dis coloring within a year and even with a mat to cover it is cracked and discolored. It will costs thousands of dollars to have it replaced and have a special sink to replace it to have the odd shape. So disappointed.

5 to 6 cracks in bottom of sink, haven't had sink long when the first crack appeared. Very disappointing since we had to pay for installation. Now what?

2 weeks after putting a new stainless steal sink in rust started forming all in the sink, looks like junk . for what we paid for this thing , the fact that it is supposed to stainless, and stainless is not going to rust tells me this is cheap material

We installed an American Standard Ameri-cast black under mount sink first one cracked (no apparent reason) and Home Depot replaced it with a new sink which was a real project to get installed. Anyway the replacement sink is scratched and looks pretty bad. Problem - the shape configuration of the under mount is not available any longer so how does one get a replacement sink to fit into the pre-cut granite? I called American Standard and got nowhere with the support staff - told me to buy another sized sink and I'd have an "over-hang". I think American Standard should make a replacement sink in good quality Stainless Steel in that shape and size! Come on American Standard get some support for customers that were stuck with this product before you realized it was a dog and discontinued it!

I purchased a Chandler Americast kitchen sink in 2005 when I remodeled my kitchen. Sorry to say, this sink is a piece of junk. It will not come clean, is badly stained ( can't imagine what from- I have a rack in the bottom that was made for the sink) in spite of using the recommended products, and looks dull. My old home had sinks, tubs, and toilets that were over 30 years old when I sold it, and looked 1,000% better than this thing does. I'll never buy another sink from American Standard again!

After reading these complaints my concerns are verified . The Americast sink is made of poor quality, chips peels and does not stand up to normal wear and tear. The sink just looks cheap .
I recommend that when replacing this sink, which you will have to do, seek reviews on which sinks hold their value.

Bought a STAINLESS steel sink for $300.00 at Lowes. Not even a month later the sink is rusting...nothing from american standard....

I posted a complaint about my American Standard Americast Lakeland sink on March 25th. I was contacted by American Standard the day after I sent an email to them. They have offered to reimburse me for the sink, if I have the receipt. If not, they alternatively have offered to replace the sink with a stainless steel sink of similar size or a $100.00 good faith gesture. I don't think I can ask for more than this. They are trying to do the right thing.

I bought an American Standard Americast Lakeland sink about 8 years ago. The underside material on the sink is cracking badly and, when those cracks reach the drain, leaks will almost certainly result. I'm not waiting. I'm hoping that American Standard will back its brand and, if not install a new sink, at least provide me a new sink for installation at my expense. I am awaiting their response as I write this.
