Installed an Andersen 1-1/2 self storing storm door, Has a closer at bottom no safety device to stop door from over extending when the wind catches it. Called help desk and they informed me they had no advice on how to stop the door (wind caught the door and ripped up their closing hardware). It was not a defect, so they said! When I asked if they had a safety chain they said NO and if I installed one on their door it would void their warranty. When the wind blew the door out of my 5 yr old grand sons hands, the momentum pulled four 3 inch screws out of the door frame and shattered the porch light. Called them, again they said it was not a defect and the solution is to hold onto the door, this time the told me safety chains cause more damage then they prevent (what an idiot).. I will never buy another Andersen or EMCO door, window or any other product ever again, I will tell every one I know what a terrible company they are. If anyone is interested in starting a class action I am in. contact me at [email protected] these ass's think they do not have to answer to anyone. To protect my family I built a bracket and installed a safety chain.
