Request all accounts to be reopened with new bank numbers
Due to an ex-boyfriend I went to my bank and ask to close all my accounts and reopen them with new bank numbers. Now i have a checking account, a debit/credit card and a separate credit card all issued by BBVA Compass. (my credit card is automatically paid each month from my checking account). After doing this i started to receive letters pertaining to my credit card not being paid. Went to the bank and they said it was their fault and that they forgot to include the credit card when reopening the accounts with new numbers. I paid some money to bring the card up to par and signed some paperwork. Walked out of the bank feeling good. issue taken care of. I never try to balance my checkbook because I never can with this bank so i don't look at my monthly statements each month but months went by and I never received any more hate letters telling me my credit card was not being paid so I assume no news is good news. Many months later i received a letter from my bank stating that my credit card had been sent to collections. Went to the bank and they acted like I should of know this and yet I NEVER received any mail pertaining to this card not being paid. I asked why did I not get notified this time when i did the time before....... no answer. The bank manager called me and we got into a heated discussion and she said, "on this day( cant remember exactly what day) you came into the bank and signed that credit card account closed". I replied, yes I guess that is what I signed because i know i signed something. She said it in a way that I intentionally closed this account (which was stupid because how can someone close an account unless they paid it off?) (This manager had no idea what she was talking about). On this second time back at the bank with the same problem I was told that it was their fault again that this happened. They also told me that they could not take me out of collections and basically said sorry. This is not rocket science and obviously before they could issue a new credit card number to me they had to close the existing credit card down (that's why there was paperwork their with my signature on it giving them the authority to close the account so it could be reopened with a new number. So they closed the credit card and then did nothing more with it which makes sense that i never received any information about this account not getting paid from my checking account because it was closed all this time. What bothers me the most is someone at the bank came across this issue and had to realize what they did (and did not do) and they just opened it back up and sent it straight to collections because I never received not one notice pertaining to this credit card not being paid. They ruined my credit and left me in collections. Never felt so abused and helpless. this bank dropped the ball on me not once but twice and still never got it right. Total incompetence.

11 hard inquires on a perfect credit
For three months May thru July of 2018 Loan officer #28657ANDRES DE ALBA PH # (210)641-0018 at BBVA 15900 LA CANTERA MALL SAN ANTONIO,TX.78256 FAX(210)558-5486 kept calling me with unwarranted calls about a preapproved loan at a low interest rate of 4.3 percent.I never asked for any loans and asked him to stop calling as I've never been to that branch or know him.He said he could produce the loan & I could get it at my local branch in CORPUS CHRISTI,TX.AYERS BRANCH (361)854-2228 KARINA fixed up the loan after talking the DE ALBA FROM SAN ANTONIO,TX.After many distractions KARINA said she was a branch manager and not a loan officer so after waving and yelling hello at everybody that walk in with a pulse she instructed me to come back that afternoon and the $3000 loan would be deposited in my checking.I came back and the monies was deposited so after I was leaving I noticed that the interest was 24.33% instead of 4.3 percent & that 11 hard inquires had been made on my credit report.BBVA DESTROYED my credit & nobody will take responsibility. No answers just lies after lies as no one will talk too you just hang up or promise to call you back.I worked 15 years to build up my credit after a traumatic brain injury only for a foreign bank to destroy it just isn't correct.Let's make AMERICA GREAT AGAIN and get this fraudulent banking scams away from this nation.

Credit Card
I recently received a BBVA credit card with an $8, 000 limit shortly after my wife opened a new business so I used this card and many others heavily. I ran this card near to its limit and then within the next 30 days payed it down to $1, 300 and all other cards to near ZERO obviously demonstrating my ability to pay my bills.
Within 10 days of my last payment to BBVA, you reduced my line of credit to only $2, 200 Well, you were the first card that I always used now you will be the last, I will pay off your balance next month and put your card in my drawer.

Poor Customer Service By the Branch Manager and Teller
I arrived at the Bank with the purpose of cashing a BBVA Bank check and placing part of the check on to my account, the teller tells me I don't have an account so I would be charged a $8 dollar after I clearly told her I needed the cash to be posted to the my BBVA Account she was holding on her hand, so she decides to clearly charge me an $8 fee, gives me the rest of the cash back and have a nice day. So when I get to the my car I decide to call the office and speak to the manager the same teller answer and tells me the manager is not available take my number and tells me that she would have her call back. The Manager never calls me back, it got to the point where I had to call them, then the manager would not listen to reason, I don't have a problem with BBVA just the tellers and manager in Pasadena, TX very little professionalism and poor customer service in general. Will definitely never go to that branch again nor would recommend it.

I HAVE SO MANY COMPLAINTS I AM NOT SURE WHERE TO START. FIRST OFF I THE ATM AT MY LOCAL BRANCH NEVER WORKS EVER!!!! THEY DO NOT KEEP UP WITH THE ACCOUNT ONLINE ONE MINUTE IT SHOWS ME A DOLLAR AMOUNT THE NEXT IT IS DIFFERENT. RECENTLY I HAD PLENTY OF MONEY IN MY ACCOUNT TO PAY FOR WHAT WAS CHARGED. THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN I AM GETTING 38.000 OVERDRAFT FEES FOR TINY DOLLAR AMOUNTS WHEN I HAD MONEY IN MY ACCOUNT. I CAN'T EVER GET ANYONE TO ANSWER ME FOR DAYS. AND WHEN I DO THEY ARE NOT VERY PLEASANT OR HELPFUL. I FEEL LIKE I AM BEING ROBBED ALL THE TIME. I HAD TWO SAVINGS ACCOUNT WHICH I WAS NOT GIVEN ACCESS TO DRAW MONEY OUT OF SO WHEN I WOULD MAKE TRANSFERS ONLINE FROM SAVINGS TO CHECKING THEY STARTED CHARGING ME FOR TOO MANY TRANSFERS. AND THEY OFFER NO INCENTIVES OR SUCH FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS. ONCE I GET ANOTHER ACCOUNT OPENED AND GET EVERYTHING SWITCHED AS FAR AS AUTOMATIC WITHDRAWALS I AM DONE!!! I AM ALSO GOING TO HAVE MY PARENTS SWITCH BANKS.

Excessive Transaction Fee
I went shopping for one day, went to three stores, also purchased something online as well. I am checking my checking account balance and next thing I know, I see my savings account amount has gone down. I look and it shows that I was charged -$33 for an "excessive transaction fee." I have no idea what that means or that that fee even existed. I read somewhere that it might be due to too many pending charges on your checkings account, but how am i supposed to know about that or control that? And THIRTY THREE dollars. That is a lot. I have messaged and tried to talk to BBVA about it but no straight answer. I hate this bank.

Random fees
I went shopping to a couple places all on the same day. Next thing I know it, I see my savings account has dropped money, I go and look at the details and it says "excessive transcation fee -$33" I have no idea why or what I did to make it do that. I didn't even know that it did that. I read somewhere else saying that if you have too many pending charges it does that. But why should I be fined for something that I can't even control? I don't know which stores do and do not have pending charges... ugh. I hate BBVA

Daughter scamed
My daughter was offered a free trial on a Google App called Drama fever. She decided that she did not want this service. What she did not know is they would use her Google account to charge her $99.99. for a year and just charge it to her Google account. I just got the bill yesterday. The requirement was to notify her that she did not want the service or they would charge her. This is a Korean app that is part of Warner Brothers. This is a scam. She contacted them to notify them to cancel. They said she could not cancel but that when the year was up she did not have to auto renew.
I got scammed on a magazine. I did a trial offer of one year. At the end of the year they automatically renewed my subscription. They were not so greedy. The amount was $95.00 . I learned that most credit cards will investigate only if the charge exceeds $100.00. These folks are greedy and misleading. This is why they get the max. $99.99.
Now I call up to make a complaint. The guy is a little goofy. He said I will send you a form. I got it. 5 pages to fill out. The form was a PDF and I could not fill it out. It was non-editable without the $40.00 a month service.
My main banking is with your company. I went in to the local branch and ordered some checks. A month later I find the service rep did not know how to order them and it never happened. Compass is my main bank account and has been for years. It seems I have used your credit card for some time. This is all about to change. Oh yes! The wait time to talk to the agent was 1 hour 15 minutes.
Deal, take the 99.99 charge off or I will go away.

Loss of all identifying information
I have a car loan with BBVA Compass bank. I am recently divorced and needed to change my name on the loan. I was told to send a copy of my driver's license, a copy of my social security number, a copy of my divorce papers and a copy of a credit report. All the papers were sent certified mail, return receipt. The papers were signed for by Tomas Alejandro but NO ONE has them. This bank also does not report to the credit bureau, thus the reason for a credit report. I have been a victim of identity theft and now I fear I will be victimized again. This "bank" has not resolved the issue, no returned calls and no one is available to talk to but customer service. There is no customer service at BBVA Compass but a place too close to the border with a customer's information. Buyer beware. This not a bank as we know it.

Direct Deposit Posted and Funds still not available
I would not be surprised if I hear their is a class action lawsuit against this bank in the near future. They are terrible. My account was overdrafted. My notification was sent to me that they were going to freeze my account. They only sent me an email saying my access to mobile banking was suspended. I called their customer service and was then informed. I advised them that I have a payroll direct deposit covering my NSF charges and my account would be back in good standing. I was told that after your account is unfrozen it will take another 24 hours to have your deposit post. Now my balance shows the deposit but my available balance for withdrawals is still showing $0. I am furious. I have bills to pay and now I cannot pay them. This bank does not try to work with you and do not care how they inconvenience you in the least bit. I understand that my account was overdrawn but you're making money off of me and if I have a direct deposit hitting in another day why would you freeze my account mind you with no notice that. I HATE this bank. The WORST bank ever. Do not open an account with them. I REPEAT DO NOT OPEN AN ACCOUNT WITH THEM. You have been warned.

Frozen Account.
I recently opened a checking & savings accounts with BBVA Compass. The following day i return to make a deposit. i regrettably opted not a receive a receipt from the khios at the tellers window. SOMEHOW, SOMEWAY my cash deposit was lost! never hit my account. i immediately return back to the branch to be told that there is a delay in the system, give it 10-15 minutes to show up. i do so, NOTHING. i then call the branch to be informed that the teller who assisted me will return my call in 10 minutes. 2 hours had passed. so i return to the branch. as i arrive they immediately ask for a moment to see whats going on. after 5 minutes one of the tellers approach me with a memo receipt for a deposit with no explanation of how this could happen. 5 days later i receive my bank card in the mail only to notice my name is misspelled. I immediately contact customer service to make the revision and send out a new card. The very next day i return to the branch to make another cash deposit only to learn that my account has been frozen. The branch manager tells me that i would need to contact customer service to lift the freeze. I immediately do just that and was "helped" by a young lady with THE WORST customer service skills i have ever come across. she as well gave me no direction or explanation other than to go back into the branch and have the manager lift the freeze, and suddenly ended our conversation with "well thats all the information i am going to tell you sir" and quickly hangs up in my face. it has now been 3 weeks and 4 days of the branch telling me to contact customer service and customer service telling me to walk into the branch and have this freeze lifted. I called customer service first thing this morning to be once again lead in the wrong direction. so i walk into the branch shortly after, end out my checking & savings accounts, call customer service again and now i am learning my accounts will be closed now that i have withdrawn everything from them. DO NOT BANK WITH BBVA COMPASS, TAKE YOUR MONEY AND RUN AS FAR AWAY FROM THEM AS POSSIBLE.

CUSTOMER SERVICE AND ONLINE BANKING
I have just opened an account with BBVA Compass and at first I had problems getting into my account I have to change my password every time. It took days before someone finally answered me and they were no help. I asked a question about transfers and got no answer. Now I am trying to transfer money and it is not allowing me to do so, I call customer service and request they call back because the wait was so long. They call back and the girl can't hear me and I am practically screaming where everyone at work can hear me so I hung up after repeating myself 10 times. I am a customer service rep and if I treated my customers like this and made them wait I would have been fired. I think BBVA Compass needs to get their act together I have never had such a problem with a bank before.

Excessive NSF Fees
People who rack up NSF fees are not, in wholly, part of a group of people who mismanaged finances. I am good with my money and take every caution not to spend more money than I have. But to wake up and see that I have $340 is NSF fees is infuriating. My car insurance autodrafts in between pay periods. So occasionally I expect to,have an NSF fee for it. This month when it drafted, I had 1 pending charge. There was ABSOLUTELY nothing else pending in my account. NOTHING! So BBVA charged me 5 NSF fees. They said that I actually had 4 pending charges when my auto insurance came through. I said, well explain to me then why they did not show pending when I logged into my online banking. Because when something is ending on the bottom left hand corner of the charge in yellow text it says PENDING. THERE WAS ONLY 1!!!!! So she tells me oh well they were cleared but the NSF charges were charged the next day because your insurance was directly paid. I said do you even understand what you just said? You just acknowledged that those items were paid and you charged me NSF fees anyway. She tried to back peddle and tried to confuse me by saying other things but the bottom line is, those items were no longer pending and I was charged NSF fees anyway.
As long as they are allowed to do this they will keep doing it! Take your business else where. I am. I am also looking into information about another class action lawsuit.

sorry bank
bbva compass treats their customers like dirt. the 2 managers in their cullman branch are real abusive and uncaring. recently made my weekly trip on thurs. to cash ck. thru drivethru. after 10 to 15 minutes there was no attempt at window to akknowledge i was even there. laid on buzzer noone seen in window. infuriated i went inside. questioned lady at managers desk, where is manager. she made several excuses for there lack of help. later i found out she was actually cust. relations manager. i informed her this has happened more than once this is ridiculous. i told her i want my license and ck. back go get it. not wanting too, slowly at snails pace she did what i asked. i grabbed it out of her hand. she yelled out in front of the whole bank as loud as she could "dont you dare grab that out of my hand". i promptly said what are you going to do about it. this was my property and i am the cust. i will not be yelled at a by a lazy employee. oh and by the way there was only 2 cust. in bank i saw with no business being done only socialazation between them and tellers. i did tell them as i walked out in a normal voice screw you. i contacted the bank the next day and miss stuckup manager answered phone. she informed me i was on camera you know and that she would be more than glad to cancel a 7000+ account by phone. What? i guess miss stuckup is going to throw me in jail. they would not let me talk to banks manager until several attempts. i found out she was uncaring about cust. as miss stuckup supposed cust. relations manager. oh and she said i hurt her hand boohoo. she did not yell out ow. the next day i had to go all the way to bham. to get some of my funds from compass to start shutting my account down. at this bank there was at least 20 cust. ahead of me. i received my 3000.00 in less than 10 minutes. i have called several times wanting to talk to corporate managers over this cullman branch. they said i will be contacted in 24 hours. 3 days later still have not called me. oh well i have made up my mind to cancel these crooks. bbva makes me keep 1500 at alltimes in bank. this is kind of exorbidant. they have charged me several times when i have not. they did not tell me of money i would receive for credit card points i have had for 5 years. so they offer me 25 for thousands i have spent. to make a long story short i am in the process of shutting my accounts down. in my mind they are a bunch of blankedly blank crooks.so complain as much as you want they dont care. bbva wont get anymore of my money. i beleive they are going under.

Overdraft Charges even though items cleared
I used my card for 3 different transactions so they were all pending at the same time. 2 of them cleared with money still left over, but the third item went into overdraft. I expected a charge for that item. What I didnt expect is to be charged for all three pending items. I went to the bank and the guy tried to explain that even though 2 cleared, since they were all pending together, they were each charged. He even said that he doesnt understand it himself and that he doesnt know why they started this. I was charged 76 dollars for items that cleared and didnt even overdraft. This is stupid and its theft. I am leaving this bank. I have been a loyal customer for years but this is the wrong way to do business!!

Getting to know your customer better Questionsaire
I was notified at drive thru window of bank I needed to sign some papers but every time I went they had forgotten to tell me. I was informed the questionaire requires I provide them with my gross, net over all value and also if I did not provide them with all the info my account would be frozen! I spoke to my accountant who was out of town due to death in family. I received a courtesy call from bank on Thur. Reminding me my acct would be frozen if info was not received I advised bank that acct was out of town she responded by saying " we gave you enough time". I have no control over my accountant being out of town but I do have a heart" she had a death in the family!! Well my account was frozen!! I can tell you they don't have a heart! Why do they need to know my worth to get to know me better? I have banked there since I was 15 yrs old and they want to get to know me better now! They want my profit and loss statement and they Are not the IRS! Oh but I was informed today that in. Few days I would receive a letter in the mail explaining the form and its reasoning! WOW! They work backwards! They should have sent the explanation and reasoning first not after! My acct is still frozen and if they don't receive the info it stays that way FROZEN! They are playing with my lively hood and no one can stop them because its not them its the Goverment but was advised to take it up with our congressman! The fees my a ct will have due to the freeze they placed they are not gonna waive! With Compass bank one thing is for sure "it is there way or the highway! As soon as I can I will change banks! They want to know their customers better they say I think they want to know us intimately(financial value)! I requested a copy of their policy stating I needed to provide the info and she informed me they did not have one because it was not a policy From the bank at all!
Is there anyone else going through this situation? I would like to know.

Excessive NSF Fees
Went to the grocery store and bought a few things. The total went about $3 over the amount of cash I had and I had $5 in this particular checking account. Paid with the my card and IMMEDIATLY (less than 10 min) went to my branch and deposited my cash to cover the charge. However the day after, they decided to still charge me an NSF fee, even though my balance was in the green. Seems like it's a bit of a scam to me and its possibly costing me my marriage (no exaggeration). Seriously it's a lot like racquet that they are running. I mean why charge me an NSF fee when I had a balance in the green? Safe to say its getting to the point that I'm going to switch all my services over to my capitalone account. This kind of thing has never happened there. In fact the one time I did go over at capitalone, they didn't charge me ANY NSF fee, not one cent. This really is ridiculous that they are charging NSF's like a fat kid eats cake (sorry if that offends you).

Change to real time
Does anyone know the official date they changed to this joke of a system called "real time" processing and did any of you receive anything in writing about this change?
I have 2 bank accounts as I am in the process of switching to another bank. Since I still have 2 auto payments that I have just not had the opportunity to switch over yet, I have been taking deposits there the night before or first thing that am before they even open to cover.
Now, previously, as long as I had that deposit in by 1pm for my time zone, It was applied to transactions that day. Meaning if I have a transaction that was an auto pay that came in at 9am, as long as I had the money deposited by 1pm it covered it.
If this changed, that’s fine but not one employee at the bank will answer when this policy changed or provide me the offical policy. All I get is rude comments like "we are doing you a favor" when we all know that Banks profit greatly off overdraf fees and that has nothing to do with doing me a favor. I had the money there to cover these items before the bank even opened that day for business.
Also..... I usually will drive through the ATM the night before. But lately, the ATM will not allow deposits to be made. Which I find interesting. But, so I use the night drop.
The night drop clearly states on the front “all deposits made prior to 8am will post today”. Ok, so the way I take that as long as my deposit is in there by 8am, it will be processed for that days activity. RIGHT? WRONG
So now that they switched to “real time”.. even if my deposit was say there at 6am, they will process that auto pay that comes in at 9am, THEN process my deposit and charge me an over draft.
How on earth is this real time. My deposit was there first. Since they clean that drop box out at 8am, they know this.
Yet for me, since their ATM for deposits is conveniently “not working” I have no “date stamp” to prove the time the deposit was in.
So I didn’t realize this occurred...... I do balanace my account. I made 2 deposits that woudl cover the items on seperate dates. In both cases, the deposit was more than enough for the payment and should have left me with a balance. Instead, since I didnt check to make sure they processed my deposit in a timly manner and charged me overdrafts each time and of course with their ATM not working... I used the drop box both times and so did not realize until it was too late.
So does anyone know when this policy change went into effect and did any of you receive any notice or anything in writing.
I get if this was my fault. But I moved money there to cover those transactions.. And in both cases, the money came out of my other bank account about 12pm that SAME DAY.. So they had the money.
I have banked there for 8 years and have never had any complaints until this.
So at this point, I just want to know when this change was effective and the policy about how this "real time" process is actually processed. Like does it state "hold the customers deposit made the night before and process payments going out first". I think not and the simple fact that no one can provide me with this policy is unsetteling.
The banks rely on all their customers money to continue to make money, give loans etc. So they should at the least have clear policies in place.
And anyone with a stupid reply about balancing my account needs to read this again. I do. I deposited money to cover these items the night before.... The bank just choose to HOLD the deposits until they processed payments FIRST despite the fact that they had my deposit first....

Excessive NSFs
RE: User924026
I not sure who User 924026 is, but the post is beyond unacceptable and moronic. These customer's complaints have nothing to with growing up. This is an issue of customer service, taking care of your customers and giving them the benefit of the doubt. Do you really think that people out there are not going to pay their transactions when they are under contract with a bank? With the state of credit bureaus and the economy? Seriously. They have an agreement like anything else and it is up to them to see it through. Surely a few days of grace and communication could be accommodated.
No other industry treats customer service so poorly. These banks have no idea of how to build loyalty and a brand following. Does a restaurant go ballistic when you accidentally consume something you find just awful? No they bring you something else. Do most stores with return policies say you are screwed when a product under performs for you? No they gladly exchange it for store credit and often cash back. BANKS, TAKE CARE OF YOUR CUSTOMERS.
And they will bring more customers to you, borrow more money and spread the good word while building the brand.
It's alarming with social media these days, that a company would even attempt such acts. Their days are numbered.
It's clear they are hurting and the lowest hanging fruit for making billions (76 Billion, in 2011) is with NSF fees.
For the record (from the FDIC, US Treasury and NIC)
BBVA has:
• the single highest turnover rate of customers in the country
• one of the highest NSF fees ($38.00), the national bank average is ($24.00)
• one of the highest numbers of consumer affair complaints
It is one thing to assess a fee for going under but to tack on fees for every little transaction when customers stumble, is simply preying on them and taking an advantage of a situation. By the way customers, let it be known, it is illegal for banks to charge more than 6 NSF charges in one day.
So some real advice is to do some homework on choosing a bank.
Research their technology (most have very inadequate web servers that are not real time),
Find out ahead of time how overdraft protection works (and sign up) and how much NSFs are and how they are charged.
Be careful on how many cards and checks are using the same account as it is much harder to track transitions.
Try a local Credit Union where most are 110% focused on customers because they are owned by the customers.
Ignore posts like User924026 who are most likely bank employees or white bread silver spoon trust fund babies.
Take control and switch banks, its YOUR money.

Excessive NSF fee
Please grow up and manage your accounts. If you have the time to sit around and complain about fee's then maybe you have time to manage your accounts. Here is a tip, DON"T SPEND MORE MONEY THAN YOU HAVE! Banks are a business they are not there to give you free stuff all the time. Take advantage of the resources they have and grow the heck up!
