I purchased a home and financed it with Countrywide. A few years later the mortgage was bought by BOA and since then I have had several problems mostly related to insurance. Like they kept forcing insurance on me saying that they did not get notified from my insurance company when the policy was up for renewal.

A few months ago this property was hit with a hail storm and there was extensive damage done to the roof. The insurance adjuster came out and assessed the damages and wrote a check to me and to the bank. After 2 months I am still trying to get BOA to endorse the check so I can begin the repairs on the roof. The roof has since started to leak and I had to do a temporary repair to prevent further damage. The insurance company by law can not cut me a new check without including BOA on the check. My hands are tied and I am not getting anywhere with the bank. I have dealt with three different people at the Property Claims Department of BOA in both Arizona and California and 2 of them claimed to be managers. Still, after $80.00 in postage and numerous hours on the phone I still have not gotten an endorsement or a letter of authorization which would authorize the insurance company to replace the last 2 checks with one that does not include BOA on the check. The mortgage balance is less than the claim check so I am wondering if I should just pay the mortgage off but I hate to do that because it is all principle and no interest as I only have 3 years left on a 20 year note (which I am paying by automatic bank draws and has never been 1 day late). Maybe they are hoping I will pay it off? But after I checked the internet I discovered literally hundreds of complaints about BOA and their seemingly incompetent Property Claims Department. They have ruined peoples lives with there incompetency and or lack of good faith practices. I feel for anyone else who has to deal with this bunch. There should be something done to stop this kind of bullying. And they should not be allowed to use the name of the country that I fought and served in the name of there dysfunctional business.
