Terminated for reporting a scam or possibly dangerous situation
I've been a nanny for 10 years now and been a member of Care.com since January of this year. I've met four wonderful families through this site, whom I've worked for for months now, and out of all the interactions I've only had one horrible one, recently. I sent a report into Care.com about a member I felt was running a scam, very possibly a dangerous situation. Having been a victim of a nanny scheme very recently (from Craigslist, be careful on there too!), the behavior of the member was all too familiar. In the report, I gave Care.com a fully fleshed out account of what happened, sparing no details. The interactions with the member started out okay, then things about the position started to not add up and their behavior became increasingly odd and unsettling. Not wanting to cancel, in case I was wrong, I was prepared to bring someone with me to the first meeting, to make sure everything was on the up & up with the job. Finally, I just went with my gut and explained my hesitation to the "parent", their increasingly strange manner hit a boiling point and they began calling and texting me non-stop for the remainder of that evening. As a nanny with a decade of experience, this was a VERY unusual and disturbing reaction for a "parent" to have. Completely shook up from what happened I sent the report into Care.com. Now, two days later, they've terminated my account.
So this tells me, that anyone who tries to do the right thing by reporting what seems to be a scam and (again) possibly dangerous situation, will be terminated?!
Way to handle things Care.com!! Maybe Sittercity will be more "Care"ing and attentive.

My Account Was Deleted Today
I have been a babysitter for several years and created a Care account which is nearly a year old. I had good reviews, and I got several weekly and date night jobs through Care, all with wonderful families. I was in the process of looking for a new babysitting job. I'm in school getting my bachelor's and I don't have a criminal history, I also have great references. I'm really saddened by the fact I no longer have an account and there was no explanation provided. I really don't know what I could have done wrong. I haven't posted anything offensive and I reply to all of my messages, even when I get rejected by families who don't want to hire me. I'm pretty disappointed.

I am retaining an attorney
I was a nanny for several years. I had all great reviews, clean background check, and nothing wrong with my account. Then I get a message that my profile has been deleted. I know I did nothing wrong, and I have no clue why. I have decided to retain a lawyer and will be bringing this to the media and every newspaper willing to publish this story.

Membership terminated
Yesterday I downgraded my membership and today I receive a membership terminated email. Now my account has been deleted. What is up with that. Reading some of the prior posts it sounds like it is a common practice - Has anybody been told why?

Terminated for no reason
Created membership months ago and yesterday upgraded to a premium membership to help find a nanny for our daughters. Posted a job and started receiving applicants. Was terminated this morning with no reason. In fact the e-mail states
"Care.com has the right, among other things and in its sole discretion, to terminate your membership for any reason or no reason, with or without notice."
I am really upset and confused. This is a terrible way to treat customers and I believe an explanation is due. Seems like their policy allows them to discriminate and refuse service to whomever they want. Unacceptable!

Terminated for reporting abuse by a caregiver
I was pretty shocked today when my care.com account was terminated, a few hours after I reported physical abuse by one of their caregivers. I have used care.com for a few years now, and somehow became unlucky enough to get a caregiver that was abusive to my 9 year old son. It took my son a good amount of time to finally open up, and share what happened to him. He was nervous, but he finally let me know that the sitter was very mean to him. She was verbally abusive, but that was not the worst of it. When he did not want to sit and watch TV anymore, the sitter would shove him down, by his shoulders, extremely hard. Then, he vividly explained how she pulled his hair, making him cry, when he did not do exactly what she said. In the end, I felt compelled to leave the part of the hair pulling in the feedback section, hoping to prevent this from happening to another child in the future. Within a few hours, the caregivers account was terminated. Then, to my complete shock, my account was terminated as well. I called over, and was given the standard snippet about how "Care.com reserves the right, among other things and in its sole discretion, to terminate your membership for any reason or no reason, with or without notice." I requested to have a supervisor call me back. I later received another generic emails stating basically the same thing. The moral of the story is that you cannot report anything serious about the caregivers, such as matters concerning abuse, or they will terminate your account. Care.com's only interest is in making money, and obviously do not feel that they have any responsibility in regard to keeping their site safe for the children.

Account Terminated
I have been using care for several years. My account was terminated yesterday and Im not sure why. If I had an explanation I wouldn't be so upset. Yesterday I was applying to jobs, three of which parents responded to me either through the company or contacted me personally on my cell. Then all of the sudden my "profile was not approved." Mind you, I wrote out my profile and bio sections months prior to this email. The next following day, My account just so happened to be deleted. Were they upset that I was applying to so many jobs. I wasn't doing anything wrong. Maybe they thought that I was one of those spam people because I sometimes use the same lines when applying to similar jobs. Either way, when im paying to use a service I would like to actually be able to use that service.

Terminated for the 3rd time
Care.com is the lousiest company for customer service period..I generated 1000s of dollars for this company over the years..had 1600 contacts and 5000 views 21-5star reviews .The money spent on preferred background checks alone by parents on me is in the $1000s..They did not like the fact I was making money and I was a success..They start getting nervous if anyone is generating big numbers..That is because they dont want to feel like anyone has the upper hand in that company. That is why if you say as much as boo or bring any attention your way you will be terminated. Parent or caregiver...They are only interested in parents/caregivers that will sit quietly in the corner while they rape your credit card with their predatory billing practices. They are not interested in providing quality childcare or customer service or anything at all for that matter. They are only interested in billing your credit card. Sheila is a sad sack of a lady..She is well hated all away across the board. She is running the Mcdonalds of childcare. Just like Mcdonalds she treats her customers with auto generated pre thought out responses. Like Mcdonalds in the past, their will be someone who will soon step forward and make a documentary about this piss poor greedy lady..A documentary about her practices and how she treats her customers in general. Only then will she change.

Terminated and Letters to this effect were sent to my families
I'm a Professional Nanny/Pediatric Nurse/Newborn Specialist/mom and G'ma and had been listed with Care.com for almost SIX YEARS, when a family that had been with Care.com all of THREE MONTHS (maximum!) decided to write a scathing review of me, ONLY because I had the "nerve" to request my paycheck when they let me go (by the way, to this day has NEVER been paid to me). As soon as I received an e-mail from Care.com that this comment was made, I immediately wrote a rebuttal in my defense. It wouldn't post and I couldn't figure out why, until soon after that I received an e-mail from Care.com that I was TERMINATED and that by law they had no responsibility to inform me as to why. I called them the following Monday, spoke to a representative and also a supervisor that said they'd review it, but that "terminations never get reversed or re-instated!" WHAT?? And what makes matters EVEN worse is the fact that they wrote to ALL of my families on Care.com that I have had positive/excellent relationships for years, that I was "removed from the Care.com community"!! I still have several of the e-mails my friends have sent me. I was libeled by not only this original family that wrote a negative review and then termination without explanation, not even allowed to defend myself on Care.com and now I was libeled to these families that knew me so well and are now questioning me as if I were a common criminal, pedophile, etc. Wondering what on earth I did to be terminated! Devastating to me! For SIX long years I had a perfect record with Care.com in EVERY way, not ONE single negative remark, comment, ever. Nothing. ALL exemplary letters, recommendations, referrals, stats, payments…everything was in PERFECT standing. They have completely ruined my livelihood and chance at making a living. Yes, there are other childcare/newborn agencies, but by FAR, Care.com has the most members and options for me. There's nothing even close to this. I would like to be re-instated. PLEASE look at my case. It is SO very unfair to me. And SO very crucial to me that I be re-instated. Thanks J.J.

I was trying to change my mom's information to my information and you completely terminated her account. Both my mom and I found 2 great family members thru care and both my mom and I are still working with these 2 families.. I wish I saw this complaint board before I responded to a day care not only to possibly work for them but to also enrol my 4 month old baby.. But I never had an issue with you guys !!!! So now I am not sure if I should create a new account or go elsewhere...

TERMINATED OUT OF THE BLUE
Wow after being a care giving member with great references and background check in place..for years now.. I come home Friday night to see an email that I have been terminated from Care.com. Of course it's a Friday night when I can't do anything about it right?
From the looks of this complaint site..I guess it wouldn't have mattered what day I got terminated on since Care.com doesn't give us the decency to explain why we were in the first place. What kind of business is so one sided like this and STILL in business??? I live not far from their headquarters here in Massachusetts. Maybe I should pay them a little visit. Whatta y'all think?

Slander case, you decide.
I wished I knew about care.com before I signed up. For over two years I have been using care.com and had no complaints. Over the weekend I tried to access my account and was unable to do so. I got in touch with customer service and was told my account was terminated without an explanation. All my hard work gone, my history, gone, my reviews, gone. This is my livelihood that care.com is messing with. What right do they have to send out letter slandering me to my clients. Where is their proof, how can I defend myself if I am not allowed the information for the termination. Real shoddy way to do business. If you have a disgruntle client, the client can seek revenge and call care.com and what does care.com do. They terminate you without allowing you to defend yourself. What ever happen to innocent until proven guilty. This is a huge blow for my business and extremely unfair. Thanks care.com, for taking my monthly payments, for watching out for me, and in one felled swoop, you have put me on the unemployment line.
Hey, anyone interested in filing a class action lawsuit against care.com? I am sure we can find a loophole in their contract. Slander is not something they should take lightly and that's exactly what they are doing sending these letters out.

Terminated for No Reason
We have been members of care.com for nearly 1.5 years, hired 4 babysitters successfully through them, and suddenly my account was terminated. I emailed and called and was given the same templated response others have received.
Terrible business model and I can only imagine the shadiness of the people behind the scenes making these decisions about people's child care. BEWARE!

Arbitrary termination of membership
My membership only lasted 7 hours and 22 minutes. That's the interval between the email congratulating me on joining care.com, and telling me I'd be expelled from membership, and wasn't entitled to know why. I'd never even heard of care.com before I spotted an advertisement on a jobs board placed by care.com.
I took out free membership because at least that was required, in order to apply for a nanny job about four miles away from my home, collecting a child from school and looking after him at home until his mummy came home. (There are male midwives, so I do not think that the word "nanny" necessarily implies a *female* employee nowadays, does it?)
I have successfully joined again, and applied for three jobs. I wonder whether I will become the first person ever to be chucked out of Care.com twice within a 24-hour period.

Shady background check
Care.com employs a company called Sterling Infosystems to do their background checks. A week after I fell for one of their "try us!" offers, care.com informed me that their background check on me revealed a burglary conviction. I have a fairly common name, but it would not have taken much effort to determine that I wasn't the convicted burglar; it was in entirely another state. Care.com suspended my account as a result and threatened to close it. I told them to stuff it. Did they care? No. In the meantime, I'm dealing with a call center in India to try to keep them from making this conviction part of my credit report.

Care.com arbitrarily closed my account
A little over a year ago, I opened a Care.com profile to help me find Nanny jobs in the area I live. I recently found a job through it and have overall been happy with the site. That is, I WAS happy until today. Yesterday, I was unable to log into my account. The site wasn't recognizing my email address, it said. I figured it was a technical error and decided to hold off trying again. I tried to log in again today, and again, nothing. So I called their hotline and after much maneuvering to even get to talk to a person (it's hidden away), I finally got to talk to someone. It turns out that my account was terminated and not only was I not given a reason (although I received a generic and unhelpful form letter), but I was told I would not be able to make a new account. I violated zero rules under their terms of service and my personal behavior has been nothing but absolutely professional as my employers would be able to confirm. I will be telling every person I know how awful a site this is and how sketchy their practices are. I may even consult legal counsel since this is obviously infringing on my ability to find employment.

terminated becuase of their mess up
I was looking for part time work as a single mom i wanted something i could include my 5 month old in since i dont have a sitter and dont trust anyone else to give him the attention he needs. Not only was my account suspended but deleted after their "background check" came back with something from a record that is suppose to be expunged and sealed.. (sometimes 18 year olds do stupid things) ive never had an issues prior to this with the closed records, and they tell me after very rude customer service call that i have to call the place that does the back ground checks. Boy didnt i do that super fast and now they are investigating why a sealed record was accessed. this company is a crock and im sorry i spent time even considering it.

Care.com closed my account with no reason given
[email protected]
I had just posted an ad looking for a sitter for an out-of-town trip next week, and received a notification that my ad was declined and my account was closed. I've used Care.com (paid) for over a year with no issues, and they won't tell me why? I'm so confused. Would not recommend this company now, but they were fine when I had an active account. Customer service was not helpful and refused to tell me anything! I'm a legitimate user with no history/background, I have no idea why this happened.

CARE.COM Terminated for no reason.
I had worked for a very challenging client that is an alcoholic and abusive. I found them through Care.com. After I finished my assignment with this client I was terminated from Care.com for no reason. I think that before they terminate a Caregiver that has been exposed to abuse from a client - Care.com should investigate the clients just as much as they investigate the Caregiver. I took care of this gentleman I was a saint in this job. Care.com terminated me for what reason? They owe me an explanation. I did not complaint about this gentleman... BUT now I will make it my priority to have care.com investigate potential employers with background checks just like the do the Caregiver. If the client needs to be safe with a Caregiver they also need to make sure the Caregiver is safe by checking the client's background check. It needs to work both ways... not just one sided. I will fight until I find out why they terminated me. My reputation is at stake & this equals to a similar situation called slander. Notices of my termination were given to potential clients & I lost work .... Clients said they received a letter from Care.com that they terminated me & that they didn't think I was good for the job anymore (even if Care.com did not give them a reason) Termination to them is equal to being fired. This is not good for CARE.COM. I see more & more people complaining..... this is NOT GOOD FOR CARE.COM. At least let the Caregiver speak her part!
We will stick together those that have been terminated ... we will not let up. It is very unfair.. very unfair. IT should be illegal to make us loose work this way. I will check the law & take action. I will post a website for other potential employers & caregivers that have been treated this way. & will support each other & find fairness.

Terminated for no
Care.com's policies are one-sided in favor of the families and extremely unfair to the caregivers. A family unjustly left an extremely scathing review on my profile; however, I was not given the chance to defend myself and to right the lies told about me. Instead I was indiscriminately terminated by care.com and as I understand, the families I formed a relationship with on care.com have been notified of my termination, placing me in a position of defending myself, losing trust and present and future jobs, while the paying families are allowed to stay on the site with the opportunity to commit libel. Sitters are at an extreme unfair disadvantage while the paying family members' backgrounds are never checked or even questioned.

Terminated for no reason
I have been a member on care.com for a few months now and have been hired for 2 babysitting jobs thru them. After working for a family for about a month the father was laid off so i was back on care.com looking for a new nanny position. After 2 days of emails with several families back and forth I went to log in to reply to a family and BOOM could not log in. checked my email and had received an email stating
"We are writing to inform you that we have terminated your Care.com membership effective 07/12/2012.
Under our terms of service, Care.com has the right, among other things and in its sole discretion, to terminate your membership for any reason or no reason, with or without notice. In addition, Care.com is authorized by the terms of service to notify other members with whom you have corresponded of this action.
As indicated, Care.com may terminate a member for any reason or no reason. Accordingly, we have notified members that our decision to terminate your Care.com membership does not constitute and should not be interpreted or used as information bearing on your character, general reputation, personal characteristics, or mode of living."
If I do not get this taken care of I have lost out of job opportunities for no reason what so ever... what to do ASAP?!?!
Thanks-
Jessica

Termination without notice
I received an email this morning terminating me from Care.com for no reason. I have a feeling the real reason is that I haven't used the service yet except to chat with someone about what my next step should be. Apparently I didn't move fast enough for them and buy in to an ad or select a sitter so I'm out. This to me doesn't demonstrate care. It takes weeks to figure out what is the right thing to do for an aging parent. There are four of us children trying to find answers to our mothers future care. Perhaps they are angry that I didn't use their $ 200/hr. counseling service to find answers. Who knows? Beware of their kind of CARE. . .
