I prepaid a rental car through Thrifty Car rental in March 2018. Turns out the prepayment was processed by CARTRAWLER which I was not aware of. I arrived at the rental desk which could not read the credit card I used to prepay the rental with. I Tried to completed the rental with the automated attendant, a desk agent and even a supervisor, they would not honor the rental without a final swipe of my card. Ultimately I could not take the car because their card reader could not see the magnetic strip on my card and their chip reader was not functional at the moment. The manager at the desk said she would cancel the reservation and I just had to wait a few days for the refund. Subsequently I was able to rent a car from another rental agency with no issue just a few minutes later.

The refund never came and I contacted CARTRAWLER about the charge and they told me I had to file a claim with them to determine if I can get my money back. I filed a dispute with my card company which made a claim to CARTWRAWLER. The investigation ended and I was still charged. CARTRAWLER Claims I never showed up for the rental and that I never provided proof and thus the charges were valid. THRIFTY says CARTRAWLER never inquired with them about the claim and that my reservation was notated with details on why the reservation was cancelled.

So CARTRAWLER explicitly lied on their defense to the claim with my bank and CARTRAWLER will no longer speak to me.
