Frequently I hear a reference to a "Hail Mary Pass" as I presume a football pass often made out of desperation. "Hail Mary" is a prayer for Christian Catholics acknowledging the holinees of Mary the mother of Jesus the son of God. We believe she was born immaculate to host the birth of Jesus. The prayer is one that recognizes her blessedness and seeks her support for sinners. The two references to the events where the announcer use the phrase "Hail Mary" and "Immaculate reception" are diparaging remarks that belittle the importance of Mary in our faith. There is an abundance of other words that could be used to describe the events. I dare say that if the announcers were to use a phrase like an "Allah pass" or a "Mohammed reception" the announcer may be fired. Stop belittling Christian belief in the use of these phrases as well as OMG which for us is the beginning prayer of a sinner asking God's forgiveness.
