On 8/3/2021 while driving from PA to FL, and when the phone at the Blythewood, SC Holiday Inn Express & Suites went unanswered, my wife called the 800 number on our IHG Rewards Club card. She was told she was talking to a Holiday Inn Reservation agent and was given a price of $118.93 for a room that night. We asked for a copy of the bill when we arrived at the hotel and were told we could not have one because we booked through a third party agent and a copy would be sent to my email account. When we reached home and I accessed my email account I saw we were billed $168.17 which included $49.24 for "Tax Recovery Charges & Service Fees"! I immediately disputed the charge with my credit card company. I lost that dispute because the third party agency claimed I violated the cancellation policy, which of course I couldn't meet. I actually obtained a copy of a bill from the hotel, containing my name and room information, to another company for $96.75.
