Denied Claim
Beware! Choice Home Warranty will find a way to deny your claim. They will promise you great service, but will not honor their word or promises. They are friendly and nice until they have to pay out money on any large claims. Any good ratings are "bought" and not legitimate.
I am in the process of filing a claim with the BBB and State's Attorney Office. I will also be contacting news outlets and posting negative comments on social media. Moreover, I will be sure to reach out to local Realtors' offices so they do not refer Choice Home Warranty to their clients.

Fraud!
On January 26, 2018 we purchased a Home Warranty Contract
from Choice Home Warranty for $425.
The warranty contract we purchased was supposed to provide us
with covered appliance repairs or replacement of the
appliance if the appliance could not be repaired. We
subsequently filed claims for repairs on two different
appliances, an air conditioner that went out, and an oven that
stopped working. Choice sent out a repairman to fix the AC
unit, and we paid the service tech a $60 fee. Upon learning
that the compressor had failed on the AC unit, Choice
denied the claim saying that the compressor had failed due
to "rust". We then filed a claim for an oven that stopped
heating. Again Choice sent out a service tech and we paid
another $60 fee, and Choice initially denied this claim
saying that the oven had gone out due to a power surge. We
argued with Choice and they agreed to send out another tech
to reevaluate the oven. The second repair tech reported that
the oven could be fixed, but a part needed to be ordered by
Choice to make the repairs. We then received an email from
Choice saying that we needed to call Choice immediately to
discuss our claim. When we called Choice, they told us that
the part needed to make the repairs could not be purchased,
and they were going to offer us $350 instead of repairing the
Oven. We told Choice that since they would not be able to
repair the oven, that they would need to replace it. This oven
cost $3500, and Choice refused to compensate us for the
cost of the oven. Choice then offered us $550 as
compensation for the oven. We told Choice this was not
acceptable and we wanted the oven repaired or replaced.
Choice refused to do anything. At a later date we called
Choice to find out the status of this claim, and we were told
there was no record of the $550 offer and that their only
offer would be $350, take it or leave it. We told Choice this
was unacceptable. We then filed complaints with the New
Jersey BBB and the New Jersey Attorney General, and we
contacted our Credit Card company and disputed the Credit
Card charge that we paid Choice $425 in January. A week
later we received a cancellation notice from Choice, saying
they were cancelling our contract. A week after that we
received a check in the mail from Choice for $350. We
deposited the check that Choice sent us, and found out today
that Choice stopped payment on the check, and the $350
was withdrawn from our account. We also see that Choice is
fighting our credit card dispute for the $425 that we paid
them. So now we are out $425, plus the $350 they sent us,
plus two $60 service fees paid to repairmen that did nothing.

Fraudulent claim rejection
On 516/2018 we placed a claim on our AC #6783374... it was not cooling. The technician sent by CHW stated it was a burnt off of compressor... Normal wear and tear he said. Yesterday CHW Caleed me on One of those automated systems, asking me to call them back. I asked for a written explanation of why they were denying my claim and the rep stated I would receive it within 24 to 48 hours. Today I received something with access to my account, in other words a link to my account, and it stated that the reason for denial was rust and corrosion, that I needed to refer to section letter F number 8. I
In reading other similar complaints I thought I should check the BBB for accreditation... They are not accredited but have many similar complaints as well. Company is not covering per terms of warranties and requesting customers to provide maintenance records etc. It also seems that in a lot of the complaints this company sites rust and corrosion for denial for a lot of customers . I noticed a suit but they are not in compliance with, I am attaching that below.
I called the technician and he mentioned that Choice home warranty is just looking for a reason to deny the claim

Taking payment without my knowledge
On February 1, 2018 Choice Home warranty took 124.49 off of my credit card. My service should have been cancelled back in June 2017, since I haven't been making payments to them. My last payment was back in April or May of 2017. I did not want there service because they refused to fix my AC unit when I needed them to. So I cancelled my service with them. And they have been trying to take fund's off my card every since then, but haven't been able to. But on February 1, 2018 they were. I really need my funds back on my card. They should not get paid for a service I'm not using or even want. They didn't even send me a email about the payment, I would've known if I didn't check my card balance.

Air conditioning system
After being aggressively upsold I took out a 3 year plan only to find that my first claim for my air conditioning system was denied. Its a good thing I put the charges on my credit card because it gives the ability to dispute the charges. Choice Home warranty will look for any way to wiggle out of their obligations. They are intentionally misleading when selling you their services. they will tell you what you want to hear and leave out relevant specifics. If your AC system is low on Freon you will have to pay to get a leak test done which is not included in the coverage. When you do get the leak test done they will require you to send them a paid invoice and picture of where the leak is coming from. Any spec of rust or corrosion on, near or around the area will result in a denial of you claim. More important then anything else is section F in the contract under limitations of liability - "The following are not included during the contract term; malfunction or improper operation due to rust or corrosion of all systems and appliances, collapsed ductwork, known or unknown pre existing conditions." This one section effectively gives Choice Home Warranty the ability to deny anything making their coverage useless. Don't fall for this BS service and don't believe all the positive reviews. If you cant click on the links below just cut and paste them into your address bar.

Choice Home Warranty
I recently had a problem with our air conditioner ,so being a member of CHW I called them to make a claim . Well that went well , the repair man came repaired what he had to repair paid my service fee off he went .Well a week went by came back from vacation same problem. Call CHW told them our AC not working again we will contact the service man .Ok the serviceman came said this time the coil was leaking and should be replaced at a cost of approximately $1500.00 . He said he had to call CHW office in the morning ,which he did and I received an email for me to call them ,which I did . They proceeded to tell me it's not covered because of rust , I asked well how do you stop it from rusting ,no answer . Then I told her that when I joined CHW I asked are you going to send someone out to inspect our home and appliances they said no everything is covered not to worry so I paid them in full . I feel that this rust thing is a get around as I found this article about rust .http://www.raleighheatingandairservice.com/
I think that this company should be investigated for these type of rip offs.

Fraudulent claim rejection
We bought a 6yr contract with Choice. After a year we had a call for AC tripping the breaker switch. After 3 technician visits, the techs told us that there was a normal wear and tear on the compressor and had to be replaced. We then got a notice from Choice that the claim was not honored, because the unit was shorted. This was completely false! We brought another AC tech and verified that the unit was failing, but working and there was no electrical short. I contacted the Choice customer services. But they denied the claim. Actually they tried to sell us a new AC unit.... This company is very dishonest ---- We had to replace the AC unit at our own full cost and also pay for Choice's techs. ---- Very Dishonest People --

saying it is Non covering item Surprise surprise
I contacted CHW about an issue. The AC man came out and did a band aid fix and was told to call CHW to send out Electrician.
Of course they are not covering the claim. They need to replace a 1 foot piece of wire that shorted. according to their CSW it was covered . They are a bunch of scam artists and try not to cover anything.
They were already fined by the state of NJ over 700K

Refused to honor their warranty
HVAC unit failed to heat. Technician sent by CHW said the manifold was cracked (natural gas heat / electric A/C type of unit) and that the unit would need to be replaced. He reported it to CHW - they said that they would not cover it because there was corrosion. Contacted the tech, who said there was NO corrrosion. He sent me pics - no corrosion. He called CHW and told them they were lying. What kind of outfit is this, that refuses to honor their contract and makes up a bogus reason for not doing what they said they would do - I'm looking on their web page, and it clearly says they will replace the unit if it can't be fixed. Well, this HVAC can't be fixed, and they made up a reason why they won't cover it.

Choice Home Warranty denying AC Claim
Good Morning,
On June 20, 2016 we placed a claim on our AC... it was not cooling. The technician sent by CHW stated it was a wire burnt off of compressor... Normal wear and tear he said. Yesterday CHW Caleed me on One of those automated systems, asking me to call them back. When I did I spent 35 minutes on hold and then finally had a representative answer my call. That representative told me over the phone over that since the tech said it was an arcing wire it is not covered. Arcing wire? I asked for a written explanation of why they were denying my claim and the rep stated I would receive it within 24 to 48 hours. Today I received something with access to my account, in other words a link to my account, and it stated that the reason for denial was rust and corrosion, that I needed to refer to section letter F number 8. It does not coincide with what the tech is stating, and they changed their reasoning for denial since yesterday's tel conversation.

Non Payment
Good Morning,
My name is Amy, I represent All Desert Appliances, we are an appliance repair vendor who used to work with Choice Home Warranty in Las Vegas. Our account got placed on hold for 365 days last year and that period of time expired on April 8th, 2016. I’ve been in contact with the accounts payable department at Choice since that date and I was always given the run around when I asked when and in what amount will we be receiving payment. I’ve spent hours on hold and on the phone with Elrees, Derrick, Derrel, and Alex. Let me just say that I’ve never had to deal with a company who is so unprofessional and never been hung up on twice in one day until now (please feel free to review the phone records as this is not an exaggeration). Your employees lack of customer service and phone etiquette can be overlooked if they were at least helpful or knowledgeable. Choice Home Warranty owes All Desert Appliances a significant amount of money, but after all this time that I’ve been trying to figure out if your amount matches our amount I was notified that we will not be receiving anything as the outstanding invoices haven’t been billed in time. How could they have been if our account was placed on hold with your company??? Also, I requested records of all payments made to us from 2014-2015 to eliminate any errors from Alex@ Vendor Relations, but I was notified that it will take a month to gather that information and quite frankly I have absolutely no faith that it will actually be done.
I am reaching out to you in an attempt to resolve this peacefully without resorting to legal means, complaints to consumer affairs, or turning to the internet which will definitely affect your reputability as a company if even your vendors are so dissatisfied with you.
I am skeptical but still hopeful that we can resolve this.
You can reach me at 702-472-9900 during regular business hours.
Kindly,
Amy Macinkiewich

Denied claim
Call choice home warranty for our broken washing machine. They came out and said the machine needed a board that wasn't available. It was and another company came out and installed it. The washer still had the same warranty. Called Choice and they said I could pay for myself and get a second opinion. I called Maytag and they sent a tech that said it needed a control board. They asked the tech what caused the failure and the tech said it just failed. Choice then told me that they denied the clam because I broke the washer, per the Maytag tech. Liars, cheats and fraud.

Denial of repair
This company declined a claim for the repair of a control panel on my AC. They sent an unqualified repairman who could not fix problem. Instead he reported my AC needed cleaning. I had my AC contractor replace the part. His explanation for part failure to choice home warranty wa it just wore out. They denied because of lack of maintenance. This is not true. I provided a receipt for most recent maintenance that was done 8 months prior to control panel failure. Still waiting for outcome. This companies customer service is awful. I feel deceived. If this is not resolved I plan to take to small claims and will call everyone I spoke to for evidence.

choice home warranty claim
My dishwasher went out about 6 weeks ago. Repair man came out and told me that he has to look for parts and he would contact me to let me know if it can be fixed or if it is junk. turns out it is junk and Choice is supposed to pay us $340 for a $700 dishwasher. still have not seen the check. Until today, we were supposed to get it around the 6th of this month, and now all of the sudden it will be around the 17th of this month! this is nuts. they have no problems drafting the monthly payments out of my account! Another thing! I have not spoken to a nice person at choice! They are sssooo rude! Stay away!!!

Bad service
This is in regards to our claim #49167121. We had signed up with your company last year for piece of mind that when our appliances/hot water heater/furnace/AC ever went out or needed to be replaced, we were covered in cases such as these. We were thrilled to know that we had protection for a monthly fee in instances where if something went wrong, it would be fixed or replaced.
Well, come to find out were my wife and I ever wrong...Our A/C unit went out this past Tuesday evening. We contacted your company, your company sent a contractor out (Sunshine Heating and Cooling). The contractor told us we needed a new A/C unit. Your company has now refused to pay the claim because you need our last 3 years of service invoices. Huh really? Well let me check the Home Service Agreement regarding where it specifies this. Hmmm...I don't see it. Let me read it again. Hmmm...Not there. So, calls to Customer Service...Oh and I use the term 'Customer Service' very loosely when dealing with your company. Let me just say as I have been in Customer Service for over 20 years in various positions including management, that if I had hired any of the people you have working in your Customer Service department at my company, I would have received a pink slip and a grade of 'F' for talent evaluation. Speaking of 'F', I noticed last night that is your grade from the Better Business Bureau...Shocking! But more on that later...So, I call Customer Service yesterday to explain to one of your CSRs, who actually sounded like he was about 15, but I digress...To let him know (Shaun) that we have a friend who comes out and does that on the side for us and we pay him cash. I won't bore you with the details of my conversation because from what I can see doing a search of complaints by other consumers towards your company, looks like you have your hands full...
So, I call once again to speak to a manager (Jim). Told by one of your Customer Service Reps that they will have a manager call me back. Call me back? What? Why? When? Your CSR tells me in about 4 hours...4 HOURS!!!...Seriously??? Oh wait, now I know why it took such a long time (oh and by the way, I had to call back because I never got the return call from a manager) because they have so many other complaints they have to deal with. So, finally get a hold of a manager (Jim) explain the situation about the refusal of theclaim, why do you need the last 3 years of Service invoices, explained we have a friend of ours do it on the side, nowhere in the Home Service Agreement does it state this, etc. etc. Then he interrupts me that he is trying to explain the agreement and rattles off all of these section numbers in the contract where it states this...OK, I went through this agreement twice, don't see this...So, I raise my voice because quite frankly, the runaround is ridiculous. He then says to stop raising my voice and well, I raised it again and then he hung up on me! Yet another shocker! Let me tell you why I raised my voice...It has been between 98-100 degrees here for the past several days! So, let's see...NO AC + hot temperatures + poor service + lack of empathy = TICKED OFF!!!
OK, this gets better...So we speak to Randy at Sunshine Heating and Cooling. He says that when he spoke to someone at your company, Randy had told them twice that our AC unit was well maintained and simply put, just died...This is where the whole piece of mind thing comes in, but obviously not with Choice Home Warranty.
So, Mr.. Moss, let me ask you some questions:
Do you not trust the contractors you hire? In other words, if they tell you something has been well maintained why do you need 3 years of service records? Form the looks of the complaints I saw, doesn't look like your contractors don't trust you very much either
So what about all the other consumers who have people fix stuff for them on the side or actually do it themselves? Do you deny them as well? Especially ones who self-maintain their stuff. Can they send in a hand-written piece of paper that says the did it? Does that suffice? According to your manager (Jim), it must be serviced by a bonded and insured contractor. Really? Where does it say that in theHome Service Agreement? Yeah, Jim your manager's response..."Well it doesn't..." Yet another shocker...
