We own a 2004 chrysler pacifica. We have taken it to our dealer regularly for scheduled maintenace( every 3000 miles for an oil change. The last oil change we were informed that there are rust holes in the subframe and it needs to be replaced(cost 2500 to 3000 dollars) We owe one more payment. Why wasn't this brought to our attention at past oil changes? I researched online and found this has been been a problem for many,many pacifica owners. Chrysler has never issued a recall to fix this problem. There is no rust on the body, so why would the frame rust? I feel that Chrysler has known about this problem for years and should have issued a recall to replace the subframe.

I have an `04 Pacifica. Have been pursuing subframe repair for over a year with no cooperation from Chrysler. Now the rust has become perforative and the car will not pass inspection.

My car meets the criteria outlined in a letter issued by Chrysler that was made public by a Chrysler owner : For cars in "rust belt" areas , up to 150,000 miles and 10 years. My car meets all 3 criteria.

Yet, Chrysler now states that only cars within a very narrow build date window (2/23/04 - 3/31/04) will be granted that extended warranty. When I ask them why, I am ignored.

I have taken great care of this vehicle! Kept it in a garage; just did the timing belt last year. I wanted to teach my kids how to drive on this vehicle. Cannot afford to repair or replace it!

Have filed with NHTSA, tried BBB (no dice, they say that Chrysler "does not participate", filed with NYS Consumer Protection agency. What else can I do?
