Hhhmmm… the things you learn from scam emails. For instance, I always thought ESPN HQ was in Connecticut, USA. Today, I see they have shifted to England. (Rolling eyes.)

This is an email lottery scam that utilizes ESPN’s good name to add legitimacy to the scam. In the past we have seen this with Coca-Cola, UPS, FedEx, Microsoft, Yahoo! and a host of others. In fact, this email states that several of these same companies are responsible for putting up the money you won. How lucky can you get!

One thing you have to keep in mind is that in order to win a lottery, you have to enter the lottery. This email claims they gathered up your email address from somewhere and entered you. Purchasing an email list of thousands of email addresses does not count, which is exactly how this scam email found its way to your inbox.

Sorry, but you did not win anything. If you choose to respond to this email and claim your prize, you will be asked to pay several “fees” up front in order to get that prize money. At that point, the scammer will disappear and you will never hear from him/her again.
