After spending $1,700 on the initial unit, an extended warranty, multiple repairmen visits and two magnetrons, the electronic components inside of our 14-month-old Bosch microwave severely overheated, charring/melting the unit’s internal electrical components and ultimately catching fire. The microwave was declared inoperable and unrepairable
Our extended warranty is the 3-Year Major Appliance Standard Coverage warranty from CPS Central (also called Consumer Priority Service). We multiple attempts, CPS Central has denied our claim even though we meet every requirement of the Standard Coverage warranty. They use deceptive practices and are dishonorable in their efforts to avoid paying legitimate claims.
The facts:
• CPS claims to “cover defects in materials and workmanship” = Microwave’s material (the magnetron) malfunctioned twice CPS claims to cover issues that occur “under normal use” = Microwave malfunctioned twice under normal use, while warming food in glass containers
• CPS will not cover damage from “external causes like accident, loss, theft, fire, flood, blown fuses, inadequate electrical power, fan failure, water and gas lines beyond the equipment, plugged drains” = None of these occurred
• CPS claims if a device cannot be repaired, CPS “will either replace the item or send you a check for the current market value of a replacement” = A manufacturer certified repair company declared the unit inoperable and unrepairable
CPS Central said they do not “cover repair of damage or food loss caused by accident, loss, theft, fire, flood, external causes such as, but not limited to, blown fuses, inadequate electrical power,
fan failure, water and gas lines beyond the equipment, plugged drains, or any use of the product not authorized by the manufacturer.”
The microwave was not damaged by external factors. It was not damaged by an external fire, blown fuse, electrical issue or any similar external cause. The microwave malfunctioned. A component within the unit severely overheated, charring/melting the unit’s internal electrical components and ultimately catching fire.
The company uses deceptive practices to avoid paying claims, to trick consumers into purchasing warranties they refuse to honor, and generally gives customers the run-around in an effort to skirt their business obligations. We have filed a complaint with the Texas Attorney General, multiple consumer watch agencies and are filing a small claims lawsuit.
Please learn from our mistake and do not use this company. You will regret it!
