Silver Sampler Ripoff
We don't usually fall for high-pressure sales pitches, and we know never to agree to "offers" that expire unless you say yes immediately, but nevertheless, near the end of an endless, high-pressure "sales presentation" at S. Lake Tahoe, given by Troy A., we fell for this Silver Sampler ripoff. This is a terrible program: you can only choose among a few properties, and the availability is very limited. Troy gave us a complicated song and dance about how we could actually use the sampler points for 42 months, though the contract said 18. This was a complete lie.

You can't use the sampler points in combination with your regular points, so you wind up with "change" left over that you can't use. We got a nice visit to one of the sampler properties, in Sedona, AZ, out of the deal, but after finding out what other people there paid for the same rooms, we greatly overpaid for the visit. Never buy this program, read the fine print in the contract and disregard all the lies, omissions, and misdirection from these salesweasels, because the company will just disavow what their own salespeople told you. My advice is have a little flexibility about when or where you want to go, and call a few weeks beforehand, and pay cash. You'll likely find a discount deal that will be much cheaper than these ripoff sampler points.
