If the recievers for both satellite companies need to b connected to a phoneline or internet to complete the circle for remote ordered movies to be sent back to them. Satellite path only works one way. So they are just now finding out about the movies is because they read your smart card. This is all public knowledge, but most people refuse t search alittle. You are being charged for the first time. No conspiracy. Don't try and steal from them.

We were customers of Directv from 2000 unti 2/2011 at which time we switched to Dish. This switch was due to poor customer service from their receivers going bad very quickly and them wanting to charge for the replacement. This complaint isn't about that but about the fact that after we discontinued their services, sent their receivers back we received a bill for $25 in 5/2011. OK we paid that. now it's 3-2012 and we are now getting another bill from them for $45. I call customer service and they tell me it's for movies we rented in Feb 2003. 9 years ago... I got irate one the phone with the supervisor as she was telling me they will turn it over to collections and ruin my credit... I told her do.
We were customers for 11 years, had 5 receivers subscribed to them and they still do this... I will watch local off rabbit ears before I go back to them... Oh, and they have been sending us weekly mailings telling us how much they miss us and please come back...Yea Right
