Who holds facebook accountable? What if your complaint is not regarding ANYONE ON FACEBOOK, but rather FACEBOOK themselves? For the likely purpose that with each passing word in my post the chances of each reader's retention decreases; I'd like to say that if you are associated with a major news/media/press outlet and are interested in facts NOT theory, on hearing my full story in detail about how Facebook manipulates it's platform to strongarm select minorities with bait, lure then tackle.
The bottom line and I'm certain what can be proven to be a big problem for many people who have spent hundreds, even thousands of hours investing in building their facebook page as a community, the same way as an author does their book.. is this;
"a link was shown beneath the message facebook had to pop-up on my screen which permitted the user to click on such a link if you did not think facebook's action on your account was justifiable, " so I clicked and a standard website message submit box popped up.
YOU MUST KNOW, that if it were not for the links which appear on the bottom of select, random fb messages... one can spend hours.. and will, but not find a way to submit an electronic message. And there certainly is NOT a phone number anywhere at all! Even an email address would be my most preferred method that way there is a record of your submissions. They are set up so if they don't like a consumers complaint, they easily retaliate against you by further restraint on your account. It's more of YOUR life investment going to waste, not theirs... after all, no one is holding them accountable.
After a week when their action against my account is not reversed the same link presents itself again and I send a similar message with a little more haste, threatening to step my complaint up to a public level.
That was yesterday. Today, my book publishing agent said he sent me a message on there and of course I believe he did... but the problem is, I don't think he truthfully believes that I didn't get it. And I'm certainly not going to tell him that facebook has locked my messaging feature down on my account. So I try to send a email directly to my publisher... it says no sending messages, I have been blocked by facebook.
The details of the nit picky claims that facebook make in order to take these actions when compared to the archived screenshots that I have of some of the out right PORNOGRAPHIC ads they allow to post and vulgarity.. well, you decide. They are facebook's advertisers, they don't subcontract that service out to a 3rd party.. I've done my research. I'm a Author, Pastor, and Church Planter... and facebook allows you to go next to each ad and say if that type of ad pertains to you.. if not.. why not.. and there is options such as objectionable, offensive, etc. Then they immediately dissipate. So I guess you could say, facebook claims to be polling you and allowing you to decide... but they claim. They are not held accountable. The very same ads pop back up the next time you log back in. Your votes are good MAYBE for one session.. just maybe. But I'm banned from sending "Friend Requests" for an Entire Month because in facebook's words "several facebook users you have sent requests to say they don't know you on or off of facebook so we've put this temporary block in place."
Well, as I've told facebook again and again, "x" number of every 50 friend requests you send might claim they don't know you for any of several reasons:
1. They may just not like or care for you at all.
2. A desire for anonymity
3. That person has recently become friends with someone who really, REALLY don't
like you. Such as an ex-girlfriend, ex-boyfriend, ex-wife, and all of those peoples relatives. Someone you've fired. You can think, and get really creative here.
THE LIST CAN PROBABLY GET VERY LONG... IT'S NOT WORTH THE TIME I'VE ALREADY SPENT IN IT. IF I DIDN'T THINK I AT LEAST HAD THE CHANCE OF COSTING FACEBOOK ONE OR TWO OF THEIR EMPLOYEES TIME FOR A DAY OR TWO TO READ INTO THIS, I WOULDN'T EVEN FUSS ABOUT IT. AND PERSONALLY, I COULD CARELESS NOW IF ONCE THEY SPENT SUCH TIME THEY DELETED MY ACCOUNT ALTOGETHER. IT WOULD BE IN THEIR BEST INTEREST BECAUSE IT'S NOTHING BUT A WHOLE LONG INTERACTIVE ONLINE LIST ACCESSIBLE TO ALL MY 2600 FANS/FRIENDS AND A LEGAL LIABILITY TO THEM PROVING THAT FACEBOOKS ACTIONS ARE RECENT SINCE I MADE A COMPLAINT ABOUT A PROSTITUTE THAT WAS SELLING SEX THROUGH THEIR WEBSITE. FACEBOOK GOT ALL UP ON ME THEN. I'VE BEEN GROWING MY COMMUNITY FOR ALMOST 4 YEARS AND HAD ONE WARNING PRIOR TO MY COMPLAINT TO THEM ABOUT THE POSTING PROSTITUTE.
I'm being VERY NICE to facebook, believe me. These are just some highlights! But I must admit. I got on this site to post a 3 to 4 sentence invitation to any journalist, and it turns out to be an invitation and I ended up venting. I've even let my guard down concerning my grammar and punctuation.. my editor would pass out.
