On September 6, 2021, at 1:51 PM, I was at the Family Dollar store #181 located at 215 S Main Street Raeford NC 28376 where I had a very horrible and ugly experience.
I was going to purchase 5 bottles of Lysol Concentrate Disinfectant. As I was putting them on the counter the manager Michelle Kuntz abruptly took 3 of them off the counter putting them to her side and told me that you cannot buy all of these! I asked her why and she said because there is a limit you can only get 2. I told her that there were no signs back there and she told me yes there were signs back there.
I told her several times that there were no signs and she disputed me several times telling me that there was a sign back there and Michelle Kuntz went as far as stating very rudely that the sign was orange. Michelle Kuntz began to confuse me, and I was feeling belittled and embarrassed in front of the people behind me. I could not understand why Michelle Kuntz was being so mean and hateful towards me. I didn’t do anything to be treated the way she treated me.
My purchase was $34.37. I gave her $35 she asked me did I have the .37 cents, Michelle Kuntz stated to me while handing me money back that "she could not take the money because (pointing to the sign) I need exact change. So, I took about a minute digging in my purse to find 37 cents. When she gave my change, I pushed the buggy to the side of her and I went to the back to look for the sign and did not see no signs on NONE of the products. I began to take several pictures of the area and there were no signs.
I went to my car feeling so horrible and humiliated. I kept trying to put together what just happened why was this woman so mean and nasty to me. I called 2 other Family Dollar stores in Raeford and they both confirmed that there were no Limits on their products. One of the stores gave me the number to Family Dollar Corporate Office and to make sure I got her name.
This woman Michelle Kuntz embarrassed me and in front of a line of people over a lie because she did not want me to have the Lysol and then Michelle Kuntz embarrassed me when she did not want to take my money because I did not have exact cash.
I took a witness in the store to see show her where I got the Lysol from, she saw no signs and no signs nowhere in that area about limits on products. I went up front and asked her for name and told her that I talked to 2 other stores, and she did not tell me the truth. There are no limits on the Lysol products.
As a manager Michelle Kuntz allowed another costumer to start an altercation with me, she did not tell the woman to stop yelling and cursing at me. Nor did Michelle Kuntz tell this woman to leave. Not only was Michelle Kuntz mean, nasty, rude, disrespectful she allowed this customer to be the same way.
As if that wasn’t enough Michelle Kuntz continued to talk about me humiliating me even more, she was talking about me in front of customers. A customer came out and told me that "she did not what was going on, but the manager was calling the police on you". I decided to wait because I did not do anything wrong, and I did not want it to appear that I was running.
I have never been in a situation where I was treated so badly by white people. Michelle Kuntz clearly demonstrated discrimination and racial acts toward me when she refused to let me by the Lysol, she wanted to give me my money back because I did not have exact change, she continued to lie about a sign being up about the limit on the Lysol, Michelle Kuntz allowed a customer to attack me with rude words and bad language Michelle Kuntz never told her to leave.
This customer came outside got in her car and drove around me in a circle in the parking lot acting like a gang banger recording me while she was continuing to say mean and nasty things.
Yet, Michelle Kuntz demonstrates another racial by calling the police on me and not this white customer. Not only did Michelle Kuntz call the police on me, but Michelle Kuntz also told the police she did not want me back at the store, so the police issued me a Trespass Agreement. Again, discrimination clear as day.
I believe Michelle Kuntz mistreated me because I am black. Had I been white I would have gotten away with using file language in the store and intimidating black customers in the parking lot. If I was a white woman, I would not have been told to sign a Trespass Agreement.
Michelle Kuntz allowed this white woman to harass me in the parking lot and then allowed her back in the store. But I was told to leave and never come back.
Michelle Kuntz did not have to call the police on me. Michelle Kuntz violated my rights, Michelle Kuntz treated me unfairly because I am black, Michelle Kuntz treated me with discrimination and racial acts.
Since this situation, I have not been asleep. I’ve been up almost 30 hours. I cannot rest because I feel like Michelle Kuntz has gotten away with racially discriminated me. I am very emotional and disturbed because of the way I was treated by Michelle Kuntz.
Therefore, Sir or Mam, I am asking for Michelle Kuntz resignation and that Michelle Kuntz do not return on the premises of Family Dollar.
