Trainers and Speakers, BEWARE!
FDB Events SCAM (https://www.fdb.com.sg/)
Beware of the scam running by the FDB Events (https://www.fdb.com.sg/). FDB is a paid training events organizing company based out of Singapore and Malaysia. Stacey Yeong along with her husband Roger Tie (CEO) are running this company. SCAM: They stop paying their speakers / trainers. Read on…
Their key modus operandi: They would publish a list of 100+ training events on their website. Then they would look out for delegates/attendees and speakers/trainers for these topics. They hunt for experienced professionals all over the world through LinkedIn for delivering these training events. Their main client base seems to be from Middle East countries, Malaysia, and the Singapore region. On finding a suitable trainer for a training event, they sign a simple agreement. The event happens, which typically involves travel (online during the pandemic) and then, if the speaker/trainer is lucky, he/she will get paid. They will ask the trainer for the next event, which the trainer would happily accept. There could be many cancelled events in-between, and they will never bother to inform the trainer about the event cancellations. At some later point of time, they will come back to you for new dates. The trainer delivers the next event in good faith, whenever it happens, and submits the invoice for the payment (along-with “Very Good” customer feedback report). Now, likely, if they realize that it is hard to get delegates/attendees for the topic or simply as per their wish, they stop paying the dues to the trainer and eventually keep total silence by not responding to the trainer’s emails (sent to
[email protected] and other contact persons such as
[email protected]), mobile phone calls (to +60 19291 9364), WhatsApp messages (to +65 9176 5222), and WhatsApp calls (to +65 9176 5222).
Based on the google search, it is learned that many trainers have fallen victim to their crooked game plan. It is visible that they have been conning speakers/trainers for more than 10 years, at least. They have been changing company names – FDB Events, UNI Strategic, etc. Their key day-to-day contact person would not remain with the company for long, many have left them in the last few years alone. The FDB has been running this "understandably working scam" as trainers eventually get tired of chasing them for the payments and simply give up by cutting their losses. Stacey / Roger have understood this psyche very well and have been exploiting it for more than a decade now. Importantly, FDB’s show continues with new prey. In return, they make money, illegally and unethically and it seems that they get away with it unharmed and unnoticed literally. Have a look at some of the posts based on google search:

Lately over the last two weeks, if you have observed, they have deliberately disabled commenting on their LinkedIn Posts as few trainers have commented regarding their fraud. So, in all, please be careful if you are a speaker / trainer / delegate with FDB.
