Our 3 year old Frigidaire side by side (model FFSS2615TS2) caught on fire in the middle of the night. Thank God our GFCI outlet in the kitchen tripped and cut the power to the fridge before it became a total catastrophe. Fortunately my husband woke up due to the horrendous burning smell, and though we couldn’t determine the source of the smell until morning we both stayed vigilant until then. In the morning we had to have the fire department respond to our home to help us locate the source of the burning smell. Our nearly two year old daughter was fast asleep in her crib when this defective product spontaneously combusted in our home. We were very fortunate to escape this incident with only having to purchase a new refrigerator. I just pray this doesn’t happen to anyone else before a recall is issued. Electrolux is well aware of the problem with their product at this point and it’s only a matter of time before something truly awful happens.
