I bought this nice looking unit with gas dryer on top and washer on bottom. I used for 3 1/2-4 months and I was doing a normal wash load and all of a sudden my eyes, throat, nose and lungs started burning. I got up from my living area to see what was wrong and noticed my laundry area and kitchen were filled with smoke and something was on fire. I turned the washer off, grabbed my phone and was dialing 911 as I’m getting myself and my animals out of the house. Where it caught on fire was where the gas comes in so I thought the house was gonna blow. RFD came very quickly and did not leave until it had finished smoldering and it was an electrical fire that was caustic. I’ve had lung surgery and the next day I sounded horrible. For about a month I’ve been dealing with GE customer relations who act like they care and tell you what you want to know on the phone then send you an email completely different. They wanted photos, fire reports, technicians to come out, etc of which they have everything. Now they want more technicians to come out for no reason other than to puss me off and hold up me getting a new unit. This unit cannot be hooked up in my home again since it’s actually caught on fire. It does not pass any city or state code. Looks like I’ll be having to get an attorney and file a lawsuit which may take forever but I can wait. If I have to buy another brand then I’ll just be asking for all monies back and more for the inconvenience. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM GE EVER!!!!!
