Security Deposit

I had been a resident for 9+yrs. In that time I've seen many leasing managers and maintenance people come and go. At move in I filled out a checklist and noted many issues/repairs needed, most were never done in all the time there. Also in thw 9yrs I requested repairs/things replaced, again many were not. The head of leasing and maintenance always stated my place was kept in very good condition and that was sometimes reason for denial. I actually had to get a city inspector in to repair the falling debri feom ceiling..
Anyway after move out I did walk thru w/Tammy she said everything looked pretty good but that Jessica and Mike (head of leasing and maintenance) would need to do their walk thru (when I wasn't there..I specifically schedule the walk thru so I COULD be present) Over 30days later (by law it should be 20) I get letter stating not only wil I not be getting my security back but I owed $50 for a damaged blind. I called and then wrote letter disputing. I have several forms of documentation stating I've requested blinds to be replaced (among other repairr request) and while 2 blinds were the other was just left (not installed) when I moved that blind (tje installed) was left and Tammy infact saw it and questioned.
Jessica finally responded back (in letter) that they did find the blind, so they'd reverse that charge but they still won't refund other charges. I intend on speaking to an attorney and possibly bringing this to small claims as I do have documentation and photos showing my unit was leftin very good condition. Probably better than when I moved in 9yrs ago.
I would be curious to know if this has been an issue with Gorman refusing to refund other's their security deposit.
Also if you pay a non refundable pet deposit shouldn't it still show in your account? Isn't that deposit to be used for pet damage or 'odors'? Which I can assure you there wasn't regardless of their 'claim' You can't in person on numerous occasions state you didn't even realize I had cat until you saw..then when convenient on move out form deduct for pet decontamination.

I believe that Manager Tammy Haley bait us and switch us from a 2-bedroom apartment to a 1-bedroom apartment.
We Moved from Mesa, Arizona. Because I was having medical problems and I 69 years old, to spend time with my children.
As having a fixed income. We contacted Ms. Tammy Haley, Leasing Specialist from our apartment in AZ. about their ad for Senor citizen apartment lease of $650.00 a month, two bedrooms. Leasing agent Tammy Haley stated that yes she has a 2-bedroom on 3nd floor apt. 332. The add on the web site stated $650.00 mo... I had sent a parcel application to Tammy. Haley. We moved to Racine, WI. on September 29th 2015.

We contacted Tammy Haley that we are here in Racine and would like to come over and complete lease agreement, Tammy Haley, we signed up for auto payment on the rent. Tammy Haley did state that we had 30 days to cancel the lease, auto payment would not go through the bank. I went to the bank several time to get the auto payment to go through. Still would not. My bank stated that they are doing something wrong. Took 2-months to get it, to where I had to get money orders to pay the rent. I also believe this was a ploy to use up the 30-day notice to vacate.
We went to check out the 2-bedroom apartment. newly updated with new wood floors, and carpeting. I and Linda, my wife stated that yes we would like this.2-bedroom. While in the 2-bedroom Tammy stated that the apartment 232. Now the price was $765.00 We said ok to the price change. My daughter Camille Williams and Chris Williams looked at the apartment with us at the same time and they heard the whole conversation. Then Tammy Haley should us the 2-bedroom, yes we will take it. We went to her office to sign the lease, but we needed to get more information to complete the lease.

We came back with the truck to move in. Went to see Tammy Haley to signed the lease. Tammy Haley showed us apartment 332 two bedroom again Then she stated while in the apartment That we could not have this two-bedroom apartment because we made to much money! Next door apt. 334 is a one bedroom that you can have. I ask her again we make too much money? and she said yes. She showed us the one bedroom, I had to say yes, we would take it. I had no choice but to take it. Truck outside and had to be return at 7:00 pm. this same day. It was impossible to say no now. There was no time left to find a different place.

The elevator is next to the apartment 332 2-bedroom. Our one-bedroom apartment 334 is one door from the elevator, and we used it to move in. It was great to have the elevator that close to use. There are two elevators; one elevator is on the other on the east side of the building. We were on the south side of the building. We had to walk over a hundred yards to get to the east side elevator of the building. Tammy never told us at the get-go that we could not use it. This elevator was strictly for the condos on the 4 floor. Tammy told us two days later when I ask here the elevator would not go to parking garage, that it was not working.
We broke the lease because of the hard ship
