H&R block
March 2016, we still had not received our Georgia state refund, I called and spoke to Brittany at the Kingsland H&R and she said many clients were having this same problem. I then spent 4.5 hours on hold and Georgia alerted me that it was an due to them verifying our identity when we did receive our refund it was shorted $145 error caused by our preparer and it was the income for Georgia spending another 4.5 hours on hold.
I called Brittany and I was told she was at lunch, I then drove over and she was sitting in the lobby. I told her what Georgia had stated and asked if she could help and she instructed me that they would not release any information to her, I was frustrated and asked if she could write a letter to Georgia, she was hesitant but she said she would. I asked for a copy of the letter, none ever came.
Since it was the busy April tax time, I called Georgia on May11 and again on hold for 2.5 hours, let them know that I had never received a letter stating why our refund was shorted. Finally the gentleman advised me that it was Schedule 3, line 13. Georgia was disagreeing with the time calculated as part time resident. He instructed me to go to H&R block and have them do a protest and sent the backup showing the calculations involved. I went over and with the note on the door they were only there on Mondays.
I went over on 5/16/2016, I was greeted by Kathy Wetherhold, I explained the whole situation, and also let her know that even though I requested a letter from Georgia, I still had not received one.
I informed her we needed to do a protest, she said I have no idea what that is. She went to our return by our last name only, and printed off the sheet of calculation, handed it to me and said this is how it was calculated; I said we still need to do a protest.
She had no idea where to look, I said we can do it on line, so we went to the Georgia web site and she was a sad lost puppy, I suggested she type protest in the search and find the form from there. She typed it in and was staring at the computer as if were turned off, I alerted her to the form of “protest denial of refund” she said they did not deny your refund, I said they denied partial. She pulled the form up and started to type in the boxes.
I had to correct her spelling numerous times, ie instead of hwy she typed why. There is section for explanation, she was not going to type anything. I said we must and advised her what to type, as the full name of the backup were sending.
Section 4 on this form, is called Representative information , I had to inform her that was the section for her to fill out, she looked at me like I was crazy, I read the line which states “by attorney, accountant or other third party”. As she filled this out, she used my husband as the primary and I stated that it needed his signature and could she mine, she told me no since his name is first on our return. I said that I too am on the return, she said just sign his name.
Never did she ask me for any id and when she printed out the form, she handed it to me and said the mailing address is on the bottom of the form, I said I have to mail it? She said never mind I will mail it. I was appalled at the whole situation.
He has called and been rude and mean and corporate keeps saying that I should get a refund and they will get the ball rolling and
that has been a joke as well. I call once a week and now The owner said he will give me $40 to go away
