VERY RUDE!!

I went to Hertz car rental in Sacramento Airport to swap the car that I picked up on Folsom branch that morning, I had to swap the car due to a very strong cigarette smell inside especially when I turned on the aircon. When I arrived at the Hertz Sacramento Airport, I nicely approached the Hertz front clerk named Melissa to tell her that I'm there to swap the car due to the strong smell of cigarette inside the car but instead of her being nice and saying sorry or saying something like hopefully we can help you with your problem, Melissa instead replied to me with a rude voice saying "WHY DID YOU TAKE THE CAR?! She was confrontational. I still answered her question with a calm and polite manner that I did not smell the cigarette until I close all the windows and turn on the AC and by that time the branch of Folsom was already close. Then she offered a car that has a lesser options/features. I declined that and asked for the same car that I had so I can bring it and swap it to another location. After waiting for several minutes and couple of follow ups they can't find the car, So I asked for the manager and the manager wasn't available. I spoke with Melissa again and she wanted me to wait at the lobby if I want to speak with a manager and god knows how long! Her attitude is really bad, unprofessional, doesn't want to help, making gestures, loud voice, fighting with a customer and RUDE!!!!! What a very poor customer service from Melissa. Is this how Hertz treat your customers? I hope management can do something about this.

Check engine and no help in middle of chiapas

We had reserved a small car before our trip. When we got to tuxtla, there was no small car but a huge gaz guzzler. Several days later, the check engine sign goes on and the car makes noise. We looked for a hertz agency but none within 350 km ! We were told in the evening that they would send a car from another agency, but the next morning, nothing had happened, and we had to start all over. The call center cannot put us in contact with the other agencies or any manager.
We have been waiting for over 12 hours, and still nothing!
We were told just to wait or to go on driving even though the check engine sign was on! Cross the southern Mexican mountains with a check engine sign on!
Never again hertz. No formal complaint center!7

Unauthorized charges and customer relations are rude

Tried to rent a car with Hertz for a day to attend a funeral. Pre booked online entered my partners name as driver and my credit card details as i don’t drive and she doesn’t have a credit card. That was the fatal mistake since in the terms and conditions it says the names have to be the same. Yet somehow even though they can’t accept payment from a card in a different name, they have no problem taking the payment off the card all the same.

Presumably using the incorrect name for the card. When we turned up to collect the car they refused to let us take one as the card was mine, the staffs were rude and refused to help. I assumed that cause they could not accept the card to pay, that no charge could have been taken. But of course the workings of this firm are a mystery that someone can pay for the car and yet not be allowed to pay for the car at the same time.

I find this practice disgusting, payments should not be accepted if the name is incorrect and if it is legal to still accept the payment it could be checked and hertz if that’s their condition reject the reservation at that point. But no they deliberately allow the transaction and just put the condition in their terms and conditions, so they can still take the money. This is a disgusting shameful practice.

After finding I’d been charged complaining was an even worse experience. Customer relations are downright rude and even tried to threaten charging us more as a no show fee to cover their costs is more than our rental was. Do not use hertz they have no service standards and will try their best to charge you as much as possible in all circumstances.
