Original message read: My friend was scammed out of 2000 dollars by HireRight. She received a "secret shopper assignment" that contained a cashier's check, which she deposited and withdrew funds with. The bank rejected the check a few days later because it was a fake. NO NOT FALL FOR THIS.
Update: It is possible that this scam happened as a result of the scammer masquerading as a HireRight employee, when in reality the person may not have been affiliated with HireRight. Basically, just be leary of emails offering a job you have not applied for.
