An employee of the Home Depot used customer contact information to try and get a contractor fired, lose income and assonate their character and to cause overall damage. Someone that works at customer service, the pro desk, or a manager called a pro account holder and accused the contractor who made several purchases at their store of trying to steal. No one was arrested,changed, or even questioned by loss provention. No merchandise ever left the store without payment being made.
But some employee at that store took it upon them self to go into the computer and take information and use it fraudulently. They called the account holder and said it was a courtesy call and they were from corporate and wanted to inform them of this “situation”. This is a highly malicious and inappropriate use of company information. Not only was the personal statement uncalled for it was also slander and could’ve cost somebody their job. In fact I believe this was their intent. Further investigation will be made into who did this at the Bel Air Maryland store. And legal recourse will be taken against that party. Both civilly and criminally. It is a form of vindictive harassment and stalking in many aspects. This was not only a poor choice because they left Home Depot open to a civil liability lawsuit but it also cost that store a minimum of $30,000 in sales. The employee will be Prosecuted and sued civilly when they are identified. What they did was immoral and unethical. The use of company software, phones, and the Home Depot name was unauthorized and especially not anything corporate agrees with. I know because I spoke with corporate and Human Resources.A vigorous investigation has already begun into identifying the individual or individuals responsible for this highly inappropriate behavior.
