We are both nearly 80 years of age and have been in and out of hospitals this year. In March we ordered something from Ebay and they asked if we wanted a free trial. So we signed up for it. then from March they took £9.97p from our Tesco credit card with out us knowing they were going to do it. We noticed this £9.97p taken out in April and thought it was something we had ordered of the internet and not recorded it. Going in and out of hospital and being ill we did not notice that it was taken each month. When it was taken again in August we queried it with Tesco we were told it was a monthly subscription.
We never signed for a monthly subscription, just the free trial which gave us nothing. We complained to IC SMART SHOPPER but they said we signed up for a monthly subscription. In fact they were not interested in our complaint even though we had bought nothing more.
So they took nearly £50 from us without us getting a penny back. To have covered this monthly subscription of £9.97 p we would have had to buy at least £100 worth of goods every month if we were to to get a 10% discount..
They have conned us by misleading us to believe we were signing for a free trial (which gave us nothing back)
They said they had stopped the subscription after we phoned them, which we are waiting to see if they have.
We understand others had been misled the same way so they must have made £ millions from unsuspecting EBAY customers. Why EBAY allowed this type of scam bewilders us. We have stopped buying off EBAY now,39851 like a lot who were misled. Ebay will lose out because of the loss of customers.
