used phone
I bought an iPhone 4 where the seller claimed that it is a brand new phone. However, after a while I found out that the phone is an old phone (IMEI number is different between the box and the phone). I came back to the store with police and the seller said that he never told me that it is a brand new phone (which is contradicting to what I was told before) but actually a brand new refurbished phone but still insist that it is a brand new phone which still leave me unhappy. Moreover he also admitted that the IMEI number written on the box is different to the real phone. But again the seller still argue that even thought the IMEI number is different compared to the box, it is still a brand new phone as he challenged me to call Apple and double confirm with them, if it is a used phone, he will return the money.
The police suggested me to double confirm with Apple if it is true (that the phone is a new phone).
Because it is a very frustrating evening and already 8.30 pm I decided to just went back to hotel and the next day I went back to my home country.
Now, I have already called Apple customer service and they clearly said that the phone definitely is a used phone and there is no such things as refurbished item for iPhone.
Adding more to my misery, I cannot purchase the warranty since the Apple website mentioned that the warranty has expired (to prove you also that this is an old and used phone). Where the seller also clearly said that I can purchase the warranty on the Apple website for $99.
