Jeep marketed and sold these vehicles as being able to be towed, 4 wheels down, behind a motorhome. There is a problem in which the Jeep can start rocking violently behind the motorhome. Jeep says it's because the Electronic power steering is inactive when it is being towed. This can only be stopped by bringing the vehicles to a complete stop. On my vehicle it resulted in broken welds on frame components. Jeep, at first, refused to replace them under warranty, but my dealer did replace them free of charge. Jeep has come up with a wiring bypass that will, supposedly, solve the problem by energizing the Power steering while the ignition is off. These parts are not yet available to Cherokee owners and no firm date has been established for when they will be available. The kit will also cause the battery to run down quickly, so you can only tow for a maximum of three hours. This is not what people, who bought these cars (for about $30.000) believed they were getting.
