did not receive my Masters degree in Psychology
I have been attending Kaplan University since October of 2009. Since that time I have made the Dean's list at least 2-4 times over the years. I received pretty decent grades which awarded me my Bachelors degree in Psychology. I attended the Masters program for May of 2012. I continuously stayed steadfast in my mission to complete my degree for my Masters. I continued to receive good grades event this juncture. Any classes that I did not do well in, I retook them to assure my spot for receiving my degree. To complete the Masters program it entailed also passing my comprehensive exams. These exams I did not do well in I was told. I asked for explanation as to what I did not do well. No one would tell me. I then sent an appeal letter to see if it were at all possible to retake the exams. My appeal was denied. This I feel was very unfair. I feel that I have been cheated out receiving my degree. Overlooked in this process was the fact that I did pass all of my classes with A's and B's. Not one failure. I feel this, the fact that I passed my classroom requirement should count for something.
I spent many late nights making sure that I turned in all of my work for all of my classes. I going to bed as late as 3am each and every night and having to get in 4 hours to prepare myself for a work day. I was told my exams did not represent Masters worthy work. I had the same writing style throughout my tenure at Kaplan and none of my previous Professor or instructors had made any comments and if they did I would redo my paper to ensure myself receiving a decent grade.
This complaint I am filing is about principal which I feel Kaplan has lacked to show in my case. I am filing this complaint with the hopes that I can get someone to assist me obtaining the degree which I feel I have rightfully earned from all of the hard work and effort that I put into making this become a reality. I have also had to take out many student loans in order to pay for schooling at Kaplan and after the time I put into making this become a reality it has turned into a nightmare because I am now responsible for making paying this money back and have absolutely nothing to show for it. This is very disheartening, frustrating and what I feel to be the worse form of betrayal. They sell you on the idea of continuing education with the assurance that you will receive a degree and it the worse form of deceitfulness that I have seen in a long time.
I am asking and pleading that someone in your organization will investigate Kaplan and their unscrupulous practices in selling students their bill of goods on receiving a degree be it a Masters degree or a Bachelors degree.
