I attended Kaplan to try to earn my Associates in Criminal Justice...well, as it turns out, they're the criminals! They prey upon people that are trying to better themselves and are trying to provide for their families!

I never received my Degree, I couldn't afford to continue at this ridiculous "school"! Owing over $60,000 in student loan debt with NOTHING to show for it.

Credits not transferring to other (better) schools, so I had to start all over again! I couldn't and can't afford to continue, so I'm right where I started before I ever signed up with this ridiculous mess of a place...

I took the online classes for Kaplan Univeristy. In the beginning i let them know my finical situation and that i did not want to take out much loans since i was a single mother. There were many issues after the first year. I asked to speak to an finical advocate because i was not understanding what they were specifically stating about my loans. Long story short supportable 20 credits away from my BA they said they made a mistake and locked me out of my class this was on the 4 week in so of course after arguing with the finical department going to the dean they said there was something they could do yet when they unlocked me i failed the class and had to repay that. I was told i was fine with the loans i had take out to the end of the year. I can not see records but i know i did not pull out as much as the dept of education is stating. I ended up graduating and then receive information that because of the class i retook since i was locked out and they delayed everything they were not releasing my diploma until i pay 2400. Its a bunch of crap honestly i have wrote letters to the dean every Kaplan asking for help and also the president. I know that was probably a waste of time yet i am sad a lot of you are going thru the same thing yet happy in a sense also because to know i am not the only one helps me. At this point i will never own a home my credit is messed up i'm harassed everyday and i tried so hard with a 3.5 GPA in criminal justice, managing having two other children while enrolled. I don't see how we can be trying to better our self for our families and we are kicked to the side and overseen it is so discouraging!!!!

I see a lot of people are complaining about the financial aid. I also want to complain about. This is my second term with Kaplan University. Both terms I had trouble with my financial aid. They said that I owed them this and that amount. When I viewed my credit card ledger and billing statement, it showed that I did not owe anything. This will be my last term at Kaplan University.

I have been trying to contact the financial aid department since Jan. 13th. I get the automated email that says they will reply in 24 hours but so far they have not. For some reason they are holding my student loans and what they do disburse does not match up with what they accepted. I am about ready to withdraw and go back to my old school. I chose Kaplan because the schedules work better for me but if all they are gonna do is hold my money that I have to repay, then I am better at the old school in the long run. After reading the complaints from others I am now getting very worried. . I am not one to take stuff like this laying down. I will be right there with the others filing law suits.

This is my second time within the past 4 months that I am complaining about Kaplan University. I am very upset about the situation regarding me not being awarded my Masters degree. I have attended Kaplan since 2009. I was able to obtain my Bachelors of Science degree. (no problem there). I decided since I had done so well to continue on in pursuing my Masters degree. (big mistake here) well at least in making the decision to pursue it at Kaplan University.

I applied to the program and was accepted. I started my graduate studies in May 2012. I did well in my classes throughout my tenure. When it came time upon completion and nearing its end, I had three comprehensive exams that I had to take. I took the exams and was told that that the work I presented which basically consisted on mostly researching and writing papers was not deemed as what the professors called Master level work.

Mind you I had the same writing style patterns which got me those good grades while attending Kaplan all the while. This was very frustrating. I felt betrayed and disheartened. I was left with nothing. I worked very hard to obtain both degrees. I spent many long and hard nights writing papers until the wee hours of morning. Sometimes not getting into bed until 3am or 4am and having to get up at 7am.to go to work. I want to know because of the hard work that I put in with obtaining good grades with the exception of not doing well on my exams as was stated by the professors who I did not even know who they were; where is the justice in that.

A few weeks ago during the holiday season I was sent a seasons greeting email from the staff at Kaplan. What would have really been a nicer greeting and a present would have been Kaplan awarding me the Masters degree that I worked so hard to obtain. I wrote that in my response to them for the greeting. After the email response that I sent to Kaplan an Ombudsman from Kaplan (well she said she was from Kaplan) contacted me with concerns about what I had written. She, mind you suggested that I talk with her about the issue. I then contacted her a week before the New Year came in.(as she suggested) I left her a message as I was instructed to do so by her. To date I have still not heard from her. I want to know where is the justice? I have complained to the Board of Education and anyone else who will listen but have gotten very little result on either end. "No justice, no peace."

This school is a rip off. you have to apply for fafsa, and take out to loans in order to cover classes. with all that done done i stilled owed money out of pocket. the school is so expensive that your finical aid and loans don't even cover you expenses. I talked to about 4 different people, and i haven't resolved any thing yet! I need to obtain my transcript to attend another college and, some colleges don't even except there school credits. what a bummer

After receiving several collection calls regarding to my balance with Kaplan University I have contacted my Students Account Representative several times questioning on how I can setup a payment plan with the university. After receiving no response from Mauricio Chacon, Student Accounts directly regarding to the issue of owing the school a current sum of $1, 190.00, I was advised to apply for further student loans and grants. After trying to contact with the general student accounts customer service department of trying to setup a payment option I was only given the option to speak with Mr Chacon to which the University has given me zero assistance with this issue. My last communication with Mr Chacon, cc: Teresa Benson, Academic Adviser was Friday evening, November 6, 2009 at 6:36pm Pacific time stating that I am disappointed with Kaplan and wish to withdrawal from the school. Furthermore, on Sunday, November 8, 2009 at 7:47pm I received a call from Kaplan University trying to collect a debt, to which I advised the representative, no name was given from the caller that collections calls cannot be made after 9:00pm and on Sunday and this call will be reported and this is going against the Fair Credit Reporting Act enforced by the Federal Trade Commission. The caller disconnected the call.

I have been trying to contact the student representative for days, when I finally got hold of one, she told me that she would call me within 24 to 48 hrs. But she didn't. One week later, I called that department and talked to Debra bailey, she said the same thing and never called again. It has been 4 days, and I have been calling her everyday but she doesn't answer her phone and never returned my massage.

Kaplan is the biggest joke of a university!!! I did nothing but argue with them from day one of my 2yrs with them. They would not send me money left over each term, instead, they would keep it and say I had none left, which I did...The class content was always screwed up and I would write the Professor about mistakes I found and she in turn would turn the complaint in, of course, Kaplan knew it made them look bad when a student was always finding mistakes with the class and they weren't smart enough to figure them out in the beginning. I was locked out of my classes many times. This past March 2009, I was finished with my AAS in medical assisting and they told me I could not graduate because I had a fee I had to pay, which was false. They ended up dropping me from Kaplan, so guess what? I don't graduate and I am out $63, 000...But the joke is on them because I have hired a lawyer who is getting them on 6 different counts..We will win this because I have a the proof of moneys, student aid, etc...Kaplan will have to pay for my schooling and owe me 2.5million...

I tried to take classes via the internet in June, 2007 and dropped out in July, 2007 due to their messed up system - would get the message "Assignments successfully submitted" but the get messages back from the "professors" stating that they never got them. The classes only lasted about 4 weeks. Since that time, my federal income tax refund has been taken from me - over $3, 000.00 due this school. I had sent several letters to the BBB in both CA & NY where the collection agency was, then later the attorney general's office in FL whom have said that they have received several complaints about his school and are "working on it" and "it could take several years". Hello, I've already dealt with this garbage for several years, time for the attorney general office to actually do something about it. We need to get a group together to really go after this school. Over $3, 000.00 taken from me without any proof of a grade or credit. WRONG!!!
