I bought my Kenmore Elite Bottom-Freezer Refrigerator in Jan 2015. In June 2015, it stopped working and the tech came out. The entire computer area was covered in ice and he had to replace the motherboard. Part and Labor were covered but I was upset as a 6 month old fridge should not need a repair of this caliber especially since this was an expensive supposedly top of the line fridge! It worked fine for almost 1.5 years, then conveniently went out at Thanksgiving 2016 and it was a bad compressor. Guy who came out told me there had been a lot of problems with the LG compressor (which is what my fridge had) but that this new one should be fine. The part was under warranty but I had to pay over $200 in labor! Now approx 1 year later, the compressor is out again. Guy came last week and said he thought it was the compressor but then he said that he tested it and it was fine and maybe it was the computer....but that would be nearly $700 to fix and he wasn't sure if that was the problem. He basically ended up unplugging and plugging the fridge back in and told me that should fix it....yeah.....riiiighht! I was not convinced obviously and since I had read some of these complaints I went ahead and bought the $380 master protection plan for the fridge so at least the next year's worth of service calls would be covered. Also if they come out 3X for the same problem, they will replace the fridge for free supposedly. Anyway, his unplugging thing obviously did not fix it so I called the next day and I am waiting for the guys to get here now. I spoke with him on the phone though and he said he doesn't have a compressor on the truck so I guess it's another week of living out of a cooler. At least the fridge has the decency to go out in the winter when I can have my food on the porch in coolers. How many complaints does there have to be before a class-action lawsuit is started on this piece of JUNK???
