Similar issue to others. Kenmore electric range model 790.96612407 had a serious electrical malfunction. During common use (oven baking @350) a buzzing noise began from behind the control panel. Within seconds sparks, smoke and an electric surge/flash occurred. Thankfully, I was home when this occurred. Not sure if it's repairable or not, regardless if it is or is not, my wife wants no part this range any longer.

Seeing other references about the need for a recall. I would tend to agree.
