discontinuing plastic bas at checkoout

Re: Kroger discontinuing plastic bags at checkout. Everyone I know recycles the plastic checkout bags as trash can liners etc. Discontinuing plastic bags at checkout just means we will have to buy plastic trash can liners. So the new Kroger policy does nothing to help the environment.
