Senior citizen but paid for normal train rates

I purchased 2 return train tickets B'worth to KL Sentral. We were asked to pay the normal fare not knowing there was a special rate for senior citizen above 60 years old. When i approached the ticketing counter no help was given but she said " You no show your IC" If there are signs at the counter window definitely i would have done that. At least she must learn to let the ignorant senior know that there is a special rate for them to travel. I bought the tickets on 12th Sept for travel on 8th Oct 2016.
Please advice me on how to get the discounted rate for senior. Can my tickets be exchange for a senior citizen ticket and get the difference back or shall i return the ticket for refund without penalty.
