Renault Kwid, Captur And Stepway
Wow where to start. My husband and I have 3 Renaults, One Renault Kwid 2018, A Captur 2017 and A Step Way 2017. The Stepway and Captur were purchased together, the one is my dads (on my husbands name), all cars were bought brand new with 0km's on the clock. The Kwid I bought in 2018.
Now that we have that out of the way, every single one of these cars have an insane amount of complex and heavily expensive issues that have developed over the passed 2 months. My Kwid being the newest, is the absolute worst. I've taken this car in to Renault Stikland Service Centre 4 times in a period of owning it for 7 months!!! I've had 4 malfunctions with the ECU, this has resulted in me and my daughter being stranded in various places where a woman and child alone should not be stranded. My car would merely shut down, whether I was driving 100km/h on the highway or reversing out of my garage, this has happened 4 times. My car locks needed to be replaced too. The breaking makes an indescribable sound along with high screeching, each time the ECU is giving me a problem, the gears are totally thrown out, and breaking becomes a nightmare, my car literally jolts forward when coming to a stop / traffic light. When driving anything over 80km/h the car shudders and the steering wheel shakes unbelievably, it kind of feels like the car is going to fall apart. All and all, I am so disappointed with my car, paying R3500 per month, what a waste of damn money, how is this even possible for a brand new car?! Renault is ZERO help with this issue and simply does not fix the problem, I have gone to the ombudsman to actually have some assistance moving forward. I asked Renault to pull recorded statements of how many times my car has been into the service centre to prove to the ombudsman of all my issues so far, the first time I did this the guy literally gave me one piece of paper with the locks replacement issue and threw away what seemed to be the other statements, I went in a second time stating I needed the rest of the recordings, when he proceeded to print out only 3 issues and tried to hide the 4th statement, I literally had to ask him for the 4th piece of paper he had and he all of a sudden willingly gave it to me. This must happen fairly often as he seemed way to familiar with this type of sneaky routine.
Moving on to my husbands car, and my dads car. Both of them are reps on the road and rely heavily on getting from one place to the next, both the Captur and Stepway is 1 and a half years old, Captur with 55000kms and the Stepway with 60000kms. My hubsands Captur needs its timing chains replaced already (this is something that lasts pretty long in most cars / is suppose to last long) and his battery has some serious faults which needs to be replaced at a hefty cost of R3500.
My dads Stepway has had a slight on and off shudder since about 40,000kms, at his 45000km service he told Renault about his clutch and how it had been giving him issues in 1st and 2nd gear, bare in mind after the 45000km service, the maintenance plan runs out, with that being said, they returned the car to him stating there is nothing wrong with the clutch and that all is in order, now at 60000km's they have said his clutch needs replacing and there is no way that they will be covering it, it seems almost as though they knew there was an issue at 45000km's but instead waited for the issue to persist because they knew they'd be R12000 richer if they wait it out a few more km's, which will now cost R12000!!!! I mean seriously, 3 cars, all with serious issues that is costing an absolute fortune. I find this totally unacceptable of Renault, I literally regret every single car that we have bought through them. Never again will we ever support Renault!!!
If you're ever considering buying anyone of these cars, please LOOK ELSEWHERE for the sake of your own finances and the amount of off days you'll be requesting from your job trying to sort out these unfixable and expensive issues while your car sits in the service centre for days on end!!! These cars might seem like they come at a "good price" but I can guarantee that in the long run you'll be dealing with more of your own hard earned money flung into their service centres than what the car actually cost you to begin with.

Now at 60000km's they have said his clutch needs replacing, which will cost R12000 and they will not be held accountable for this, what the hell Renault, you are just plain thieving liars.

HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED AND ANGERED!!
