As always South African government institutions are below par. Submitted my maternity uif forms online the month I went on maternity as stipulated. 2 Months later still no payment. They told me all was fine and will get payment in 10 days a month ago. When I contacted them again they said the medical form or birth certificate is still outstanding. This I have sent as soon as baby was born and again now via fax and e-mail. Document is still not scanned in on my profile. Allot of these people working there wants to go on December leave or just does not do what they are paid for. Now allot of mothers who are claiming maternity benefits are stuck without money. Uif is deducted from my pay every month without fail. My previous child they did not pay uif benefits either. Most companies are either not paying you a salary or only a portion while on maternity. Working mothers can not go 4 months without a salary while having extra expenses with a new born baby. I wonder if the government employees has the same problem??? No holiday or presents for my family.
