In the space of 3 months I have yet to be paid my unemployment insurance fund benefits . After visiting the Harrismith office every week and being sent away with a variety of promises ranging from : your claim is approved , the consultant that makes the EFT transfers has resigned , and nobody is trained to replace her , its the year end financial shutdown , please wait 7-10 days (6 times)
the assistant manager is not in (4 times ) please sign this pay request that will be faxed to Bloemfontein (7 times ) received sms text message stating outstanding forms (4 times ) and upon enquiries told to ignore these text messages as the content is not in line with the Harrismith actual status , After speaking to the general manager who is an aged woman nothing resulted to date . There are 4 consultant counters and computers at the office , but only one station is manned by an individual who seems to be totally preoccupied with other clerical duties and one is forced to approach the counter uninvited as the public sit and wait in the waiting room unserved and ignored for hours on end . There is no routine active . One morning the individual stood up and shuffled slowly outside in full view of the crowded waiting room (at 0815am) and purchased some bananas and peanuts from a hawker at the office entrance steps . She sauntered back slowly and proceeded to eat the snacks at her workstation . That is when I stood up and enquired if this office is fuctioning as a service to the public . I was told to sit down and i will be attended to . An hour later I was told the computers were offline and must return later to see if the network had recovered . needless to say it was not. I am demanding my constitutional right to be paid for my earnings provided by myself in the Unemployment insurance fund subscription . . .
