LSI scam
I called LSI I let them look at my MRI and they told me i was a candidate. So I set up the date and took a loan out to drive 6+ hrs to have the surgery. Started Monday June 19, 2017 with exam and review of MRI thenTues. Wed where other testing. Then Thurs. would be surgery day. Come Tues. went over MRI and then was told I was not a canidate for surgery., but they could do this RegenaDisc, but had to wait till the following wk to have it done. I was told that the Dr. who preforms this surgery was out of town. So I had to put up more money to stay at the place I was staying at longer. Finally come Monday June 26 I saw Dr. Wisse went over what he was going to do for the surgery the next day; which was to be a Facet Thermal Ablation, Discetomy, and this RegenaDisc. Come Tues.morning brought back to pre-op then was told that Dr. Wisse who was going to do the surgery couldn't do it that he was booked up, and got passed on to two other sergons Dr. Gruber and Dr Kimball. The nurse was going over the procedures and it was only two procedures. We questioned and they got snotty was told the discetomy was part of the Thermal Ablation.which we knew it wasn't. My husband went out and pulled the Dr. to the side and said that we were told a discetomy was going to be preformed too. Dr. Gruber said oh ok, my husband told him to go talk to Dr.Wisse so he did and came back saying yes it will be done. Well it didn't get done. It turns out the Dr. Gruber was only the RegenaDisc Dr. and Dr. Kimball was the one to preform the discetomy and the Thermal Ablation. Well Dr. Kimball was never told by Dr.Gruber that he was to do the discetomy. What sucks is that I'm in more pain than what I came in with. I have talked to the nurses a few times and they couldn't tell me why I was in more pain, and that the RegenaDisc was going to take some time to work, waa told I just have to wait. So we're going back and forth with LSI saying they did wrong and what are they going to do about it. The nurse said if LsI were going to do anything that they wouldn't do anything for another 5 months. Still waiting to here from them, and here I am still in alot of pain. It's July 31,2017. I do and will not recommend LSI. All they want is your money.

Disorganized, no response from contacts
I chatted with Austin B. and Jake H. on July 17, 2017, they assigned Al Rivera to me as a point of contact. He was supposed to call on Tuesday, July 18. On July 19, Wednesday, I called the 866 number and talked to Nicole, she transferred me to Al Rivera's voice mail and I left another message. On July 25, Tuesday, I talked to Nicole again and explained that no one has contacted me since our phone conversation of July 19. She tried to get an agent on the phone but was not successful. I went in to chat again and got a Raquel, she verified all the phone conversations from the past week and said someone would be calling me. No call !!!!! Fist impression are lasting impression,
Stay away from these YO-YO's.

Pain and money
I went for my review and testing - I was told they could take care of the lower back pain which I have had for the last 14 years. I was told the cost of the procedure and what my deductable - there a Heath Care Finincial services I took out a loan for 3,000. I had my surgery. This was in March of 2016, since then I continue to have back pain and I will have to go back to the pain management doctor for more epidurals and what ever else will help. I continue to received bills and now my deductable went from 3,000 6,500. and now almost 9,000... AND I STILL HAVE PAIN - Don't go there the procedure did not help me so why am I having to pay more. I did contact them and told them I was still having pain it was difficult to just do simple tasks around the house person I spoke with said I could come back and maybe have another surgery - but I would have to pay more..... really you did not fix the problem in the first place.!!!!

Very glad I read these comments
I have a degenerative disc issue causing sciatica and have seen the TV ads, which only show an phone number, so I went online to find a website. I found it but also this one listed right below. So after looking at their site, I came here. Thank God I did. I am determined now to throw away the paper with their phone number. Thank you all for writing. You may have saved me money, pain and heartache.

Anesthesia practices do not meet standard of care
Patients are walked to the operating room and asked to get up on the operating room table and laid down prone space facedown with arms up on each side of their head. They are then put to sleep and and LMA type of device is inserted into the mouth. If a lumbar surgery is done, the patient's head is turned to the side and the LMA is introduced. If the person is having a cervical spine surgery, they had is propped up on foam pillows with a hole in the middle for the face and then put to sleep after which the table is tilted head up and raised so that the nurse anesthetist may introduce the LMA into the mouth. This type of anesthesia procedure is against standard of care in the Tampa Bay area. It is a very risky way of doing anesthesia which should actually be done with the patient on their back, well ventilated then anesthetized in the LMA placed. After which The OR personnel turn the patient prone on to the operating room table. The reason this is not done at this facility is merely to cut down on the turnover time between cases to please the surgeons who are always in a hurry. In the doctors parking lot our lawn line of Mazaroti's Ferraris, BMWs, Porsches, etc. get the hint? If you were smart protect your health and stay away!

Big Scam
As requested by LSI, I showed up with my 4 most recent MRI's that were done within 6 months and they said they wouldn't even look at me until I went through their triage program which meant more MRI's and CT Scans. When I asked what was wrong with the scans I had and was told repeatedly, more than once, that they were "crap" exact words they used, and they needed to get a set of their own. When I also said that I had paid a lot of money for these MRI's out of my own pocket, as insurance will only cover so many, they told me they were still, "crap". So I asked if I don't get the new MRI's done was there still someone I could talk with regarding my neck and spine issues. They stated what was the point? Said that there would be no point in talking with anyone if I wouldn't get the triage program done that they were recommending. The Dr. that I was talking with have a very cavalier attitude and almost holier than thou. I left and didn't look back.

Humiliated
I went to LSI with a multitude of back problems. I have seen MANY physicians over the years with many treatments, none of which worked. Met with a doctor at LSI and after he reviewed my scans, he told me I had a few options, one of which was possibly a procedure called RegenaDisk done only in Florida IF the doctor would accept me. The other was a disk replacement. He told me I would eventually get worse and would become permanently disabled. I am 37 years old. The next day I recieved a phone call being told the doctor in Florida would accept me as a patient pending a discogram. The doctor in Phila said I had slightly bulged disks, annular tears, and some degeneration. After making travel plans, I went back to LSI for docs to do the discogram. Upon arriving, the staff at first had no idea why I was there and acted as if we were starting at square one. Once I told them what was going on, staff realized they did in fact receive a copy of a prior discogram I already had done. After waiting 2 hours for doctors to review it, I was greeted by the procedure coordinator and what I assume to be an OR nurse (NOT a physician) who proceeded to tell me I was not a candidate for any procedures offered at LSI AND the that there was nothing wrong with my xrays and they looked to be perfectly normal for a man my age. My wife told him that the doctors said I would be debiltiated if nothing would be done and he arrogantly stated that he doesnt know what doctor we spoke to (which my wife was referrring to the one at the LSI) and he went on to say how good my xrays looked. Our hearts were set on this and they made it sound so positive but to get there and there and be told by an arrogant man that nothing is wrong with me??? The doctor there himself told me otherwise and so have many other physicians but unfortunately the other physicians didnt have an answer for me. I have never felt so awful in my life. He doesnt know the kind of agony I go through every day. And on top of it all, not once did I actually see a doctor. How lucky I was to drive 2.5 hours to hear nothing was wrong with me and not even to get to see a physician. and just an FYI, when you see a sticky note on a worker's computer (the procedure coordinator) that states, "Say treat, not fix," maybe that should be a sign (yes that is actually true). Im starting to think there are no doctors out there that truly care about their patients but rather making that paycheck larger.

Buyer beware
I have contacted LSI for severe neck, arm pain with headaches. They asked for my most recent MRI's (2) and emailed me the release of information form. along with a request for my insurance info. I decided to research LSI and held of on submitting the ins. info & release form. A couple days later i received an email from LSI saying that they had reviewd my MRI's and that I was a perfect canidate for their surgery. I want to knbow how they got ahold of my MRI reports without a release of information. Has this happened to anyone else?

You Are Just a Dollar Sign
I have read many complaints about Laser Spine Institute all over the internet and agree with all the various complaints. I am a former employee of Laser Spine Institute. No, I am not sour grapes. I am very educated and well respected in the medical field.
I have worked for a very long time in the medical field in real surgeon's offices before going to work for LSI. I was not prepared for what Laser Spine Institute really is. I strongly believe that this is a company that is NOT about helping patients get their life back. I strongly believe that this is a company that is about selling as many surgeries as possible. My job was to call people that submitted a request for information about the laser surgery. Really, my job was to call and hound people about getting the surgery. My job was to push the potential patient to sign up. If LSI got a last minute cancellation for surgery they would scramble to find another patient to fill the spot. They did not like losing the money from that time slot.
The folks that have blogged that after their surgery they could not get call backs from Laser Spine Institute is also valid. I dealt with many complaints from people that had issues after surgery and could not get anyone to call them back.
I felt like a used car salesperson. Laser Spine Institute actually has a sales department. In my long career in medicine I have never worked in ANY medical facility that had a sales department. I despised my job. I am now unemployed which I would prefer to trying to sell people a surgery. I did not have the stomach to push and push a person into having such a major surgery. When I was let go I was told, among other things, that my sales were not high enough. I am a legitimate medical professional and would have to say that I took that as a compliment! Oh well, at least I can sleep at night.
Do your homework they only have one real spine surgeon. Do you want someone operating on your spine that hasn't had specialized training in spine surgery? IT IS A SCAM. THEIR DAYS ARE NUMBERED!

I also had surgery there in Nov 07. What a rip off. This place is truly a joke. Needless to say the operation was a complete failure. Had to put up 30k and was assured that my ins would completely reimburse the 30k. After over two years of fighting with ins received only 6k. When I asked them about their assurance they basically said tough luck. The 30k was my retirement fund and informed them of this prior to my deposit. Bloomberg news recently did a story on them and hopefully will help expose them for what they are. You can go to their website to read the story, its a real eye opener. I hope anyone that reads this will take my advice and stay far away from this place. I now understand why there are hundreds of complaints on this and other sites conerning them.

Careful! Scam!
H ad their so called surgery Nov 07. The whole experience was a nightmare. Had to put up 30k and was assured that my ins would pay the entire amount. Received only 6k. The operation was also a complete failure. Was recently put on SSI disability. Should go to the bloomberg news site and read the story on them. Hopefully we can expose them. Hard to believe a company like this is allowed to continue to take advantage of people desperate for help.

Not sure what to think of these reviews good or bad. It would be wrong to assume that all reviews posted on the internet are the truth. I think the real truth would be in looking up court cases filled against such companies. I think I'll research this a lttle further before I decide if the proceedure is right for me.
