BAD SERVICE
My mother bought a wardrobe and coffee table at Lewis stores, Mabopane branch earlier this year. The coffee table glass broke when her furniture was being moved around. She reported this issue to the store because her table was still under warranty.
The manager then said that she would come and look at the table, somebody did come and they told her that a new glass had been ordered but to this day, nothing has been said or done and this was more than four months ago.
Secondly, her wardrobes were broken at the hinges, she reported and they sent a guy to "repair", but all he did was to swop the doors around, hinges were not even fixed. Whilst she was still waiting for them to come and fix after complaining about this, something else happened: There was a storm and the rainwater damaged the wardrobe bottom part and she reported this since they told her that her furniture was covered against such. The manager said that she would come and assess the damage but my mother has not seen or heard from her since. They had told her to get a sworn affidavit regarding the water damage and she did, but when she called to ask them about their coming to fix, she was told that they are still waiting for her affidavit which she submitted and she even has a copy.
My biggest problem is the gross incompetence of the management at Lewis, and the fact that they are taking advantage of an old lady who is a pensioner, taking her back and forth. She is almost done paying for her furniture and from her previous experience, once she is done paying, it will be more difficult, if not impossible, for her to get service from them.
