Unjust Fee Gouging

For years now, Macy's has been imposing Finance and Interest charge fees on zero balances and when the credit card balances have been paid in full. This has happened to me several times throughout the years and I would like to know why Macy's keeps getting away with it. I barely use my Macy's credit card once a year. This last time that I used it in Dec 2023 - I received a credit card bill from Macy's at the end of January. It was the only time all year that I used the card. The bill indicated not only a due date (that had yet to pass) but a finance charge and a late fee. I called credit services since the bill was not late according to the statement. It took quite a while to straighten it out but she credited all finance charges, late fees and interest due to the fact that it was not my negligence. She said the bill was due earlier - even tho I had never received one and I was never contacted that my payment was late. I paid the bill 3 days in full a few days before it was due at the end of February. Lo and behold today I receive a bill for $3.17 for interest charges on a "balance". There is/was no balance. The interest charge was imposed 5 days after I made payment in full! So they billed interest on a zero balance. And if they credited all the previous charges anyway why would they impose more? I called them to question...they say the same thing they always say - "the system made a mistake". There is no mistake - they do this continually to many other people and have been doing it for years. When is someone going to investigate this situation and shut them down for bogus charges?

Macys

Appied for a Macy's credit card in February of 2016. I spent $300 for an upcoming trip and put that on the card. in June I had made a late payment. Once that was paid off in July, the following month , I attempted to use my card again for a small purchase. I was told that my account was closed. I contacted the customer service and they confirmed that my account was indeed closed and they could not open it again. I was shocked that one late payment would cause them to shut my entire account down. Especially sent at this time I paid off my balance in full. Since this time I have been charged a $2 fee every month in which I continue to pay. I find this absolutely bizarre that for a card with a zero balance and a card that has been shut off by Macys for a year now I continue to be charged $2 every month. Customer service never seems to have an explanation for this. I believe this is extremely fraudulent and I really hope that somehow it gets resolved. While my $2 a month over the last year has accumulated only $24 out of my pocket I'm sure I'm not the only one in this situation. Add us all together and those numbers add up.

Macy's Credit Card $2 Fee

I'm completely frustrated and appalled that Macy's would charge a $2 "revolving account" interest charge every month on accounts that have $0 balance. I called Customer Service and they gave me an explanation for the charge which still made absolutely no sense. How can you continuously charge customers a fee when they have no balance?? That's a scam and shouldn't be legal in any way. No wonder why there are many folks out there in debt and trying to do everything possible to fix their credit score! Macy's should be ashamed for unethically digging into people's pockets.

Interest fee for 0 balance.

I have also been charged a $2 fee when I have NO balance. I paid my previous balance off by the due date and still received a minimum interest charge. I called Macy's customer service and the automated voice told me if I was calling about an interest charge to press 1. It then said it would waive this fee as a curtesy. What? I had a 0 balance!!!! It then tells me to pay my balance by the due date to avoid any fees. I already did!!!!! What on earth is going on here?!!! I then waited on hold to talk to an actual person but had to hang up because it took too long.

ordering and credit card

I am filling out a complaint against Macy's and Macy's Credit Card provider. Last year an order was processed under my name. I did not place the order. Macy's shows each and every order that has been received. This particular order was never received. After numerous calls I received several letters assurring me the problem had been taken care of and there would be no outstanding charge any longer.
I was so upset about how long it took to take care of this charge that I hadn't tried to order anything else until this week. March 18, 2016. I placed an order for a sweater and other things. The order appeared to go through until I checked my email to discover it had been canceled.
I sent an e-mail to Macy's customer service asking for clarification. The answer gave me a phone number to call that was for consumer fraud etc. I called the number, was put on hold until the call just dropped. I was holding for at least 1/2 hour. I then called customer service. A nice gentleman told me he could find no problem except delivery was denied to my address. I attempted to place the order using my daughter's address. Again, the order went thru only to receive a cancellation in my e-mail. I tried a third time to place the order going throug Paypal. I figured if paypal was authorizing the payment there would be no problem. The same thing happened again.
The gentleman I had spoken to from Customer Service told me he woulld turn my account over to a manager who would get back to me. I waited 9 hours, no call. I wrote an e-mail to customer service again explaining my problem,
This morning I got up to a note from Macy's explaining I should call so the problem could be addressed. I called the Consumer number, same as yesterday. I was on the line for another 1/2 hour and this time I did get an answer from a woman and in the middle of the call, it was dropped. She had told me they didn't have my e-mail address. How in the world were they able to send me so many e-mails giving me phone numbers when they didn't have an e-mail.
I am frustrated as I can be. I refuse to call again. I was an excellant customer to Macy's, always paying my bills on time, never making partial payments. One error, which was on their end and now apparrently they do not want my business.
