Maytag Centennial Washer

After finding out my 3 year old washer now needs a transmission at the cost of $350 to $400 to repair, so I read the complaints. I have had 2 Maytags in 47 years and my son's washer quit so we gave him ours and we bought a new one, which we thought would last us til we died. I am 65 years old and have washed many loads. This washer was not abused as its just the 2 of us, 3 loads a week. I, too, hated this machine from day one but settled with its different and I didn't like change. No agitator...weighing clothes forever and taking forever to fill with water. Sometimes the clothes were not even wet when the cycle was over! Then it started agitating we could hear all over the house and when it spun it sounded like a jet engine through the house. I don't expect anything from Maytag to make this right. All I can say is bring back the old washer that washed and didn't not need all these repairs. Seems everything you buy new now is not worth the cost.

Maytag top-loading high efficiency washer

I purchased a maytag top-loading high efficiency low-water Washer in January 2014.( model MVWC400xW4) Ser: C23933760) Shortly after one year (no warranty) the spin cycle stopped working. I called the service department and was told that it would cost approximately $350 to repair. PLEASE do not buy a high efficiency low-water washer from Maytag, it is a piece of junk. In addition to not working properly, the machine does not produce enough water to clean the clothes. I will have to purchase another machine but I will buy the old fashion agitator that puts water in the tub. I learned the hard way but I will try to stay away from any machine that utilizes high level technology, it's bound to stop working soon. Why do we have to purchase an extended warranty for a product to work. I had my last washer over twenty years and only purchased a new one to update my washer, what a mistake.

maytag centennial washer

I just talked to yet another "robot" type customer service person. I am still being told that I don't know how to use a washing machine. I am 63 years old and have done a few loads of washing. I have been going round and round with first Lowes and then Maytag since the washer was 1 month old. I kept being told that there had been no complaints about the washer. Now I find this website and see that there are a lot more people in the same boat. After 3 repairs the washer is still crap. This time I asked for the number of the corporate office and was told there wasn't one. Well guess what! I found it. 1-269-923-5000. The girl I talked to tried to tell me that they had no complaints that had not been resolved. I tried to be nice and not call her a liar. I just told her that she had been lied to and read her some of the complaints on this page. I also told her that I didn't see how Maytag could actually call this thing a washer because it didn't actually wash the clothes. When I got my new Maytag I gave my 12 year old Sears washer to my mother. It is still actually WASHING her clothes. That is a lot more than I can say for this POS Maytag.

maytag centennial washer

I absolutely hat my Maytag washer. It has not worked right from day one. From the comments I have just read, A lot of people have had the same problem. Mine does not put near enough water in to wash the clothes. I have even opened the lid after the clothes have been washing for a few minutes and some parts of the clothes are still above the water level. My clothes seem to not get clean most times. I use the high priced Tide detergent so it is not that. I am sick to death. I have had several conversations with the Maytag customer service. It was like talking to a robot. She just kept implying it was only me who was having a problem. All she could do was suggest I call a repairman. I think the Maytag company should refund our total purchase price so we can buy a washer that actually works. I am so angry at this point. Does anyone know where to go next?

maytag centennial washer

I recently purchased a new Maytag Centennial washer and dryer, This is, by far, the worst washing machine I have ever owned. The only difference in the clothes from when they go in until they comne out is that they are wet, not clean, just wet! This washer is 6 weeks old. Today I took my clothes to a laundromat just to be sure it wasn't my imagination, and for the first time in 6 weeks my clothes are clean! Little stains that my previous, 10 year old, washer got out easily do not even fade in this washer, even when stain treated. It also chooses the amount of water necessary for that load. It is barely enough to get the clothes wet! I have to stand there and keep opening the top so that it will add more water. I hate this thing. Do not buy it if you are looking for good value for your hard earned money.

maytag centennial washer

In August 2011, I purchased a Maytag Centennial Energy Star Washer. Model #MVWC400X. My water bill hasn't went down at all. If you open the lid for more than a few seconds, it starts the wash cycle all over again...that isn't saving!!! In addition, the washer is less than 1 year old and I haven't been happy with it since it was purchased. The start button is made of cheap rubber and no matter how easy you push it, the button will go inside the panel and then I have to take tweezers to get it out. The noise from the washer drives my dog crazy; she stands and barks at it. The water doesn't completely spin out of the clothes. I thought since it was a new type washer and I wasn't use to it; maybe that was the problem. Last month, I washed a load of clothes and they were dripping wet when the washer indicated the clothes were done. What can you do with a load of soaking wet clothes?...not put them in your car too take any place. A repairman from Nickel Electric in Covington, VA, came to fix the washer. He said it would need a new control panel. He came on a Wednesday and the part should have been in the following Monday. When I didn't hear anything from Nickel's, my boyfriend went by the store to check on the part. No one had called me because the owner hadn't even checked on it. While my boyfriend was at the store, the part was checked on. To "all" our surprise, the part was on back order. I spent $60 at the laundromat. Once the control panel was replaced it was only 1-1/2 months later the washer broke down again with the same problem. I was very upset (it was my deceased husband's birthday; my daughter had a doctor's appointment; and I had a load of soaking wet clothes). I called Nickels and spoke with a lady. She said someone would come and look at the washer that day. I explained my situation (going to the cemetery and doctor). The lady told me I would just have to change my plans if I wanted the washer fixed. I asked about the next day...no repairman was available. She didn't care what I had to say after this. I didn't curse but told her exactly what I thought about their service and Whirlpool...she hung-up on me. I called Whirlpool and contacted the BBB. Whirlpool sent me an extended year warranty...guess they knew I would need it. I told Whirlpool and the BBB how unhappy I was with the washer from the very start and I would rather have a refund than to keep dealing with problems. I was afraid to put any amount of clothes in the washer because the more I put in, the more I would be stuck with soaking wet. Tomorrow, a repairman from some place (Whirlpool set-up) is suppose to come fix the washer. It's just myself and two daughters living in my home. My husband took care of these type things. The stress is killing me!!!

@ Tammy - Why don't you get your BF to work for his nookie? Or is he not that kind of handyman?
