Maybe it has something to do with the minimum wages in Canada. I'm no expert but a quick check of minimum wages in Canada shows that I would get paid between 9 and 11 dollars an hour to flip burgers. That is a good bit more than 5 to 8 dollars here in the states. If labor costs are 2.5 percent more than the US counterparts and the stores are responsible for maintaining a profit margin it only makes sense they will be charging more for their product. This will be true of the entire chain of supply. The guy who butchers the cows is probably paid more, the person who packages the frozen patties is probably paid more, the truck driver is probably paid more and, if I recall correctly, energy costs are more.

And that is only the the surface cost. I'm sure that Canadian laws are different in regards to what an employer must pay in benefits. As for a 13% sales tax, well, "free" health care and all that.

"Cook at home if you cannot afford the prices. Also I doubt you are paying 13 percent. Typo must be 3 percent."

actually I looked it up because I could not believe it was true, but the average sales tax in Canada is around 13%, with some provinces as high as 15%.

insane.

I think you may have mis-understood me, i meant "before" tax, meaning the prices before the 13 % tax are applied onto any McDonalds items are way higher then what i noticed in America except for service areas so this is not even complaint about paying higher tax which i don't mind, it is purely the same exact items on the menue in these MCDonalds in Canada VS McDonalds in America, for eg: $3.45 for an item in America for the exact same Item here is $5.69 yet our currency are the exact same so why MCDonald's are scamming the people?

American and Canadian dollars are the same in value yet most items on the menu at McDonald's are higher in price in Canada as compared to most McDonald's in America. I really do not understand why the Mc d's corporation has not established a price sealing for their products especially since the food is prepared and distributed right here with in Canada not to mention the 13 % tax on top which most all Canadian have to pay. So why are these American companies who have sold their rights to Canadian companies (eg: home depot to "the home depot") allow this and why has our Government not stepped in to stop the abuse of pricing in Canada by corporations?

if you are paying 13% tax, you are paying nearly double the sales tax of what most states pay in the US, and some states have no tax at all. That is insane. I think your complaint should be more directed to your govt for having such ridiculous taxes.
