They preyed upon those of us that were unfamiliar with community college programs and higher education all together. Taught material structured to give a VERY basic understanding of what is actually required to get a job. No one knew how to actually code a procedure in order to submit a claim for payment. They never even attempted to teach or explain how it was done. We were given beginners level knowledge of navigating the books that contain the codes required to do a job, a few industry vocabulary terms, the ability to recognize 2 billing forms, and HIPPA.
COMPLETELY unprepared to do the actual job even with a certification. Employers did not respect training offered verbally in interviews. Unable to work entry level in any hospital billing office located in the HEALTHCARE CAPITAL OF THE WORLD. Qualified only for 3rd party bad debt collection companies with starting pay at $11hr.
HCC offered the same course at a higher quality for $900 or free with a Pell Grant. $25k charged for $900 classes.

Why did the Department of Education allow this? How were they allowed to accept federal funds? Why were there no checks and balances prior to granting them permission to accept student loans as payments. Who protected us? They defrauded the students and stole government funds.

The whole situation was a scam and the only way to view it is that the Department of Education and Sallie Mae (at the time) must have been in it together.

It's all billshit.
