I graduated there in 2010 and they didn't give me my diploma. They said that I owed them 400$ that i don't know how. Now they are close i don't know where to get it. I went there to be a lab technician but they told me i could start with medical assistant than in January they would switch me. It never happened, in January they told me the class for it was full, that I would have to wait for March. Once march got there they told me if I switch the class now i will lose the medical assistant and start all over since i was going to graduate in June

I have read all the entries above - and so many of them sound just like me. I found Med Vance on the TV back in 2009- I was a single mother, lived with my folks and needed a good career. I went and talked to them- they promised me so much- education, help, a job. I went for medical office program. A 9 month program, I finished with a 4.0, never missed a day - did not take calls during classes. I was more than determined to make this work. I remember the day, they announced on the speaker to come down to the office, they had new job posting. they sounded so beat and excited, we could not wait for class to be over and get down there. The jobs they were speaking of were for Jack in the Box and Mac Donald's - I was amazed, such gall- it was almost too much to bear. I could have gotten that type of job on my own, without going into debt for over 15K....fast forward - over 10 years...now my pay of being garnished - the job I have now, ( Auto Auction)- was found on my own. It is more than the money, it is the shame of being taken for such a ride. I used to think, I could see a scam like that coming- but they know the people they are dealing with - desperate people - needy people- out of work people. It is criminal. they should be made to pay back all the money they stole. I honestly do not believe, at all- if any of us would have been able to use the education we paid for we would have not wanted to pay for the school. I myself am honest- I paid on the loan for years - when mother got cancer, I fell on hard times- after she died, I had to have 2 back surgeries due to injuries taking care of her. I fell behind. I have signed up with a service to help me settle the debt - I will probably pay on the debt for the rest of my life.

I went to this school about 13 years ago for medical office administration and still paying on the student loans. Plus i had to pay a certain amount cash/check while i was attending. I have never been able to get a job with my diploma from there. If there is a lawsuit I would love to get in on it please someone contact me @ [email protected]

I went to Medvance Institute in 2008 down in Stuart, Florida for Massage Therapy. It was a 9 month program I only completed 6 because I started having problems with my hands and with my heart. So I had to drop out. I told them I wouldnt be able to come back, we still had to pay off the loan and my credits were not able to be transfer either.

Anyone know how to get involve in the lawsuit? I would love to get some money back and my credits transferred (Some of them anyways).

What a joke of a school. I attended MedVance, had a 3.5 gpa and graduated. I was assigned to an “externship” for a Dr that had me filing and arranging his personal affairs. I had no job prospects upon leaving (one of the things they promised all students) they promised job assistance to all graduates. I found a job on my own. I was let go of my position at that office due to cut backs. When I called to ask for assistance finding another position I was laughed at and told I was on my own. The classroom training was a joke. We were given very little information as to why certain tests were run and vague explanations of concepts. If a lawsuit is pursued I would very much like to be in on it. $10,000+ in student loans is crazy for a joke of an “education” and nonforfillment of promised attributes of a school.

I remember being pulled out of my classroom by a director , she proceeded to tell me my background dis not qualify me to be in the program I picked. She then told me if I wanted to stay in the school I would have to jump out the program and enlist myself in the medical asst program...smh.. I do remember telling her if I couldnt go for what I wanted to study then I shouldnt be there period. I told her begging her to empathize the loans were signed just let me stay in my class. It did not happened so i tried canceling my loans and anything that had to do with that school. However last year along with this year my tax returns were garnished for unpaid student loans to this school. I want to sue but have no osldea how to start...help

i have been contacted by sallie mae and was making the paymnts to popay this back years ago then i was told that the amt was something other than wht the paper was giving to me said. i too am not working inthe field of the courses o too but i decied to pay the loan back even after i was told that i qualfied for a pell grant and then sallie mae contacts me. noww the loan is own by navient and they are saying that owe more money. i know this is a intrest bare loan but why would i need to make these paymnts and i 1 am not wporking in field, 2. owe money that was told to me that it was a pell grant 3. and this is messing up my credit becsue of this,

I'm attending Medvance in cookeville,TN For the HVAC program. It is a new program they started November 2012. I and about 17 students were told that Financial Aid is available for the program. But what they left out was the Department of education has not even approved the program to receive federal grants or loans. I was told this 2 months after starting classes. Then i was told it take 60 to 90 days to hopefully be approved. It has been 90 days and when i ask for an update i get a No and a I don't know when or if it will be excepted threw the department of education. I'm a vet using my GI Bill to attend this school. I told/asked the campus president that i need my peel grants to get by and the student loans. While I have been patient and waiting for the program to go threw I have burnt my savings to live and no I’m barley making rent. All they had to do was tell me the program is not accepted from the department of education yet and we do not know when it will be. I then would have said thank you for your time and left and tried a different school. Ohh yeah and the Campus Presidents son attends our classes and speaks about certain employees about to get fired to other classmates. Stating they don’t like that person to much and they his dad (campus president is trying to find a way to fire her. I think there is a law against that. I have read all the complaints posted here and I'm not saying there isn't some of you that may have some validity to some of your angst, but as a MedVance instructor let me give you a different perspective of how many of you present yourselves to the teachers, program directors and campus director.

You are/were habitually tardy when you bothered to show up at all. If you were tired or "hung over" you stayed home and didn't bother to call out. When you did show up, you didn't ask at all about missed work. When you were in class often times you would pull out your phone and make a call or start texting even when reminded the class was not the place or time. You were also rude and disrespectful, not only to me, but to your classmates who DID want to hear what I was saying while you chose to talk over me. In computer class, you had to be repeatedly told to stay on task and stay off facebook. When you did poorly on tests, it was my fault, your classmates fault, the program directors fault, everyone's fault except your own. If you received a failing grade for the class, that too was someone else's fault. You didn't seem to connect the fact that if you miss 40-50% of class, you will fail!

I have been a hiring manager on my day job for about 10yrs. I always believed in hiring a student out of school and giving "newbie" a chance. Recently, I have been reluctant though not because of the lack of experience, but because of the attitude of the applicants. I had a job opening for which I had over 150 resumes come in. I saw quite a few "fresh out of school" resumes and called them first. I was appalled at YOUR attitudes! An applicant arrived, greeted me, her phone rings, she says "yo, I got to take this" and then talked on her phone for 35mins! Another kept texting during an interview.

You are all adults, so knock off the blame game and learn to take responsibility for your actions or lack there of.

*** Sorry everyone here including myself had to learn the hard way. Medvance/Fortes is a total unorganized rip off! Run as far away from this school as you possibly can!! From admission to financial aid, and teachers this school SUCKS!!!
