Bought a Menards-Midwest Manufacturing-Mastercraft (All John Menard Jr's companies) front door with sidelite. Paid for the "Lifetime Warranty" vinyl clad, maintenance free jamb. Took a couple years to realize that every time it rained and got on the sill, the water sucked up into the wooden jamb behind the vinyl. The vinyl started puckering and when I examined I found the jamb was rotten behind the cladding. Contacted Menards and they said I should have sealed that joint for them. Any decent manufacturer would seal this most important item. I know a window manufacturer who spent millions fixing windows that had a faulty sealing job. Even though what I then needed was a new jamb, they offered up a $10 set of weatherstripping...how helpful! I waited a few more years and decided to try again to BUY a replacement jamb so I would have all the mortising in the right places. Nope! They won't sell just the jamb for the door/sidelite system, i would have to buy a complete new system that included the door and sidelite. I can't tell you not to buy the crap because they discontinued this fabulous system. They act like it's not Menards fault, they play the third party BS when John Menard Jr owns them all! Go buy a decent door from a company that will stand behind what they sell.
