We have an Mastercraft exterior steel door that has warped. There is a gap between the door and doorframe. Can we call someone and talk about how to take care of this? We live in the Midwest and the winter air comes through the gap. This door is on the North side of our house.

I purchased a special order French door from Menard's a couple years ago. It looks beautiful. However, my husband and I installed this door according to directions. We also upgraded our install with PVC surround on the outside. The door leaked at the bottom and rotted our sills throwing water onto the inside tile every time it rained. Please note that our door also is covered by an overhang so it doesn't even see that much water. There is no way water could get behind the siding and run in from the outside. Everything was sealed and caulked. We had 3 separate contractors look at the door and every one of them said we installed it BETTER than they would have! Upon further inspection we discovered the weather stripping on the bottom of the door is basically a sponge that sucks water in from the outside and drops it into the house. I talked with Menard's and they directed me to Midwest Manufacturing. Note: Menards takes zero responsibility for ANY manufacturing defects on items purchased there so BEWARE! MM customer service is a disgrace. I sent multiple pictures of the bad stripping, rotted wood and installation. I asked for $30 to replace the defective stripping and rotted wood. They denied my claim saying it was due to installation. No matter how crummy their doors are and what proof you give them, they will simply blame you for installing the door incorrectly. Note: My husband has installed about 10 other doors and multiple windows in his life and has never had a problem with any of them. DO NOT BUY A MASTERCRAP EXTERIOR DOOR!!! Pay a little extra for a better door and always inspect the weather stripping before you buy.

A bear to plumb and level. But the worst problems is that the strike plates do not line up. What a pain in the neck! I had to cut out the jamb, block it and then re-mortise them. Very time consuming and not worth the monetary savings on the front side. This was definitely not a job for a diy-er. I will not be buying any more mastercraft products.

All my doors are leaking water from under the door and sill and rotting out my sub floor.
