Pixie is correct. I just learned this the hard way. I set up a payment plan and had been making payments regularly for 4 years. The amount i paid didn't touch the interest so they definitely made money off my debt. I ended up paying $1000 more than the original debt. Evidently in August 2014 they had a firm name change to Fenton and McCartney. Ok no big deal bc i made my payments online and had done so from the beginning. Mistake #1 using my checking account number. Well 6 months later, February 2015 their site goes down without or warning and Im unable to make my payment. Don't get me wrong I should have called but I assumed it was a technical issue and would be back up as the site had been functional for years. Wrong. Come to find out the site changed relating to firm name change. By March 1, they'd issued a garnishment on my back account. And I mean my entire balance was taken without notice. When I called explaining the situation their only defense was that I didn't reach out to them. Never address the 6 month difference with the form name change. AnYway they ended settling for the amount they garnished and the account will be considered settled once the bank releases the funds. But fyi if they garnish your account they don't know the amount that ius in there only what you tell them. If you make a settlement and the amount they garnish is less than the settlement amount, you owe the difference but if the amount they garnish is MORE than the amount you tell them. ... They keep that amount AnYway regardless of the agreed upon settlement amount. Pay with anything BUT checking/savings accounts and try to settle with these greedy schmucks.

I have the same problem with this company. I am unemployed and the only money i receive is tuition money. This company has screamed at me, called me a liar, and taken thousands of dollars from me without notifying me first. Right now they are holding my tuition money and they did not notify me before hand. I have to fight with my bank and the courts to get my money bank. They do not care about anyone or their children. All they want is their money. For those unable to contact them, here is a number that you can call and get through. 1-502-560-6700. I do not have any information on my case or nothing, and when i ask they change the subject. You may also file a challenge with the courts to get this stopped. Good luck everyone!
